Happy Valentines Day

Valentine’s  Day in the wedding industry is awesome! Why you ask? It’s a happy time to reflect on the day you got married (or will get married), many are getting engaged, and Waterford Event Rentals is staying busy booking lovely new brides!

Last month at the Preston Bailey VIP party, he noted that crystals are the HOT new thing. When is a more perfect time to put up flashy crystals than at your Valentine’s Day wedding or event!?!?! Check out some of Preston’s work below.

Which colors to use? You may not want JUST RED or JUST PINK. SOOOOO, we say pair those colors with another texture or design. Try pink or red with black and white damask or pair a pale pink with silver pintuck.

Lastly, we want to leave you with some fun facts from and a few other sites!

Did you know…

* Over 1 billion valentine cards are sent each year…making this the second most popular greeting card holiday (Christmas is first)

* 85% of all valentines are purchased by women (come on guys!!!!)

* The first valentine was created in the 1840s by a woman named Esther Howland

* 50 million roses are given each Valentine’s Day

* About 10% of Americans get engaged on Valentine’s Day

Wedding Childcare Needs

In need of a sitter during your reception for your guest’s?! If so, you can reach out to A Helping Hand of Hampton Roads. A Helping Hand HR is a business created by Courtney Davis, a Virginia Beach native. Courtney is a 2005 graduate of Radford University. She is a mother of an 18 month old baby boy, Ethan. Her passion is helping people and she does it with the same enthusiasm and compassion she provides for her own family.

We decided to share A Helping Hand HR with you because babysitting is a service that is often needed during weddings. The service is available for individual needs and group services.

No need to worry because A Helping has done national background checks, Virginia state child protective service checks, and reference checks.

A Helping Hand can also clean and help you organize your home before your big day and they can provide pet sitting services while you are honeymooning.

Happily Ever After or Not?

Should couples live together before marriage?  Throughout my research most articles stated that it is more likely for couples who live together before marriage to divorce. I have asked several people if they thought that living together before marriage was OK. All replied yes, and that they thought it was a good idea to see the other person’s true colors. It makes sense right? Well, I see both sides!

Dr. Harley of says, “Marriage is a commitment to love through thick and thin until the end, whereas the commitment of living together is like a month to month rental agreement.” It is more of a test to see if you are compatible, if someone messes up the relationship is over. In marriage, if someone messes up the marital agreement…the marriage is still there regardless of whether or not the feeling of affection or love is present. Meaning the couple has more reason to mend things.

Living together after marriage is a continuous work in progress. Working to build the relationship and bond opposed to testing it.

On the flipside, many people think that it’s just easier to live together and share expenses without marriage because if things don’t work out you can just break up. If that works for you then great! J

Sometimes though, people tend to get comfortable and live together for five to seven years and they’re still not married. Often times one person is comfortable with this and the other is not so happy about the lack of motivation of their partner to get married.

This may work for some and not others. Regardless relationships are a work in progress and if you live together the ultimate goal should be marriage right?! …well then…act like it…take the time to strengthen your relationship J
