Waterford Wednesday: 2015 Year In Review

Welcome to our last Waterford Wednesday post of 2015!
We can hardly believe this year is coming to an end…2015 was such a huge year for Waterford in so many ways! When we started using the hashtag #2015isouryear we couldn’t have imagined all of the amazing accomplishments and milestones we would have achieved! Take a look at some of our favorite and most exciting moments of the year!

Our 2015 started off on a high note when we found out that we were chosen as one of The Knot Best Of Weddings Hall Of Fame recipients for Virginia! This particular title is given to what The Knot refers to as “the best of the best” within the industry and we were thrilled to start our #2015isouryear motto off with this special honor! Winter 2015 also saw us through another VOW Bridal Show, which is always an exciting event for us to show off our creativity and meet sweet new clients. This year, we teamed up with some of our favorite industry friends to create an epic garden-inspired booth!

Spring

Springtime definitely brought some of the most exciting and biggest milestones for Waterford this year! The beginning of March marked Waterford’s 4 year anniversary of being in business. The saying “time flies when you’re having fun,” could not be any more true! The remainder of the Spring was dedicated to gearing up for the insane wedding season that was upon us and most importantly, our 2nd Annual Crystal Clear Vision Event! Our Crystal Clear event’s 2nd year was filled with top-notch industry professionals, insanely beautiful and ornate table designs and so many eager brides! It really could not have been any more perfect…check out all of our posts about the event here. Oh yeah, and we also added some gorgeous silver and gold beaded chargers to our inventory!

Summer brought us our craziest wedding season to date! Due to the crazy amount of weddings we were providing linens for, it was necessary for us to hire more staff members, and we were thrilled that Rob Korb Photography was able to take updated group shots for us. We also got to introduce everyone to our staff in our Feature Friday: Staff Edition posts! Summer was also the season of big announcements for us. We were excited to “shout it from the rooftops” that we opened up a 2nd office location to provide us more room for our growing linen inventory (follow along with our progress at #waterfordofficeupgrade). Our product inventory had a little growth spurt as well with our announcement of white chiavari chairs on location at The Water Table!

Fall/End Of Year

As the busy wedding season came to a close and the end of the year approached we were thrilled to announce that A Crystal Clear Vision: Year 3 was in the works! Our Fall was filled with many styled shoots and we were so excited to be featured on the Style Me Pretty Living blog for a very special “glamping” baby shower. The biggest announcement of the Fall was that Waterford will own and start renting gold chiavari chairs starting March 2016! We rounded out our year with exciting meetings with 2016 brides, and of course, a holiday party with our amazing staff!

We can’t WAIT to see what amazing things 2016 brings, see you guys next year 🙂

Waterford Wednesday: Bridal Show Season

Happy Waterford Wednesday friends!
Today we are super pumped to talk about bridal shows! When you’re in the wedding and event industry, you’ll often hear people refer to different points in the year as “seasons.” You know…wedding season, booking season, slow season, etc. Well, we’ve been gearing up for bridal show season! While you could probably find a few bridal shows going on throughout the year, the large majority of the shows happen between January-March. This time frame is sort of considered the “off-season” for most wedding and event professionals and the time when they are eager to meet and book potential clients for the year! We absolutely love bridal shows and meeting sweet new brides and clients who want to utilize our linens for their big day!
12342443_937520382951886_854220292090857088_nIf you’re new to the bridal show game, we’ve put together a little “frequently asked questions” of sorts to help you along with the chaos that is bridal show season!

What Bridal Shows Should I Attend?
Obviously, you HAVE to check out the A Crystal Clear Vision event (exciting details to come!), but check out this awesome list of 2016 bridal shows in Hampton Roads. You can’t go wrong in attending any of these shows and you will definitely find the best of the best Hampton Roads vendors! VOW Bridal Show is always a huge event…remember when Waterford won Best in Show & People’s Choice Awards?!

Should I Bring Anything?
Yes, pre-printed address labels! Nearly every vendor will ask for your contact information in order to enter you into a drawing to win a special prize or discount on their services! Additionally, if you decide to use a particular vendor right then and there, they will need your contact information to set up a meeting or to send you more information. Trust us, you do NOT want to write down your name and email address hundreds of times!

How Much Time Will I Spend at Bridal Show?
Honestly, the amount of time you will end up spending at a bridal show is really dependent on how many vendors you’re looking to see. If you already have over half of your wedding vendors locked down, you will obviously spend way less time than someone who has none! We think 2-3 hours is a good time estimate. This will give you enough time to visit with many vendors to see the endless options you have!

Who Should I Bring With Me?
This can be a tricky decision! Personally, we recommend keeping your bridal show posse on the smaller side…maybe just you and 2 other people. You will probably want to invite those that are actually in your wedding party or people that have been heavily involved in helping you plan! These are the people that will be able to offer their opinions and thoughts about the manymany choices you will have in front of you!

Feature Friday: Rustic Winter Wedding Styled Shoot

Happy Feature Friday, friends!
We are in the holiday spirit here at Waterford after an amazing staff Christmas party last night! We had so much fun eating, socializing and all being together. In honor of the holidays and the cheer we’re feeling, we’ve got a gorgeous Rustic Winter Wedding inspired styled shoot to share with you today.

It can be extremely difficult to have a wedding during the holidays and make it it’s own separate event. Including a rustic element within a holiday/winter theme was the perfect addition to the greens and burgundies included in the table setting. Keeping the base linens a neutral color made for a really nice pop of color in the napkins and floral decor!

Waterford Wednesday: New Year’s Eve Inspiration

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
We can’t believe that this is one of our last posts before Christmas…the holiday season sure did sneak up on us this year! With many of the Christmas parties winding down, the next big celebration is ringing in 2016 and we’ve compiled some linen and color scheme inspiration to make your party extra special and memorable!

Put a touch of golden glitter into the mix and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous New Year’s Eve party color scheme that’ll be unexpected, yet loved by your guests.

 Sparkle, Sparkle, Sparkle

When thinking of a traditional New Year’s Eve color scheme, sparkle and sequins are the first thing that come to mind. This color scheme is one that is the basis for most parties and we can totally see why! Sequins are fun, bright, and give off the perfect party vibe…which is exactly what ringing in the New Year should!

Using a “basic” New Year’s Eve color, such as black, and adding a bright “pop of color” is the perfect way to elevate your party! We just LOVE our Aphrodite linen! We recently got to use many of these gorgeous linens at the Behind the Veil Gold & Pearl Old Hollywood Party and everything looked so magical! Our Aphrodite linen was the perfect choice for the theme and each table literally looked as if it were draped in an intricate garment! The photos that Kelley Stinson Photography captured really showcased the beautiful detail and design of these linens. How gorgeous would our Aphrodite linen be at a “glam” wedding?! We can’t wait to see this linen used more and more in the future!

Waterford Wednesday: Pantone 2016 Color Of The Year

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
We’re excited for today’s post because it’s all about the 2016 PANTONE Color of the Year. . .or should we say colors! Yes, you read that right. . .PANTONE recently announced the 2016 Color of the Year, and for the first time ever, it’s a blend of two gorgeous shades – Rose Quartz & Serenity

As an event rental company that specializes in linens, color is a big part of our world, so it’s always fun for us to see what color(s) gets chosen each year. There is a lot of thought that goes into choosing the color each year and it’s supposed to serve as a representation of the year ahead, and we are totally on board with these selections! Rose Quartz & Serenity are colors that definitely compliment each other beautifully and are naturally used together, so we can’t wait to see this trend transfer over to the wedding industry. Rose Quartz is very similar to the beautiful “blush” colored trend that has been sweeping the wedding industry this past year, so it’s going to be very exciting to see the color palettes of the industry evolve!
weddingplanner016We definitely love this blue hue that is similar to Serenity that Antonia Christianson Events used on her tablescape at our 1st Crystal Clear Vision Event! We might need a few days out of the office, because starting now, it’s an all out Pinterest-fest to gather some gorgeous Rose Quartz & Serenity linen inspiration!

Feature Friday: Heather Philbrick

We’re excited to have another Feature Friday: Staff Edition post for everyone today! We recently had a new addition to the Waterford family and today is all about our girl Heather! Check out her interview below and help us welcome her to our team!

How long have you been with Waterford: Since October!

College/Major: Communications major at Old Dominion University

Favorite WER memory: I haven’t been around for very long, but I would have to say our monthly staff meetings. I love getting to know everyone outside of work!

Describe yourself in 3 words: Responsible, Funny, Loving

Describe WER in 3 words: Personal, Professional, Unique

What do you love most about working at WER so far?: The family atmosphere! As soon as I was hired, I felt like a part of the team. The girls are so welcoming and loving!

Favorite Linen: I absolutely love the all of the sequins linens!

Favorite Sash Tie: Oh my…learning the different ways to tie sashes has been so fun. I would say the wrap around center bow is my favorite so far!

What linen trends are you loving this wedding season?: Wedding season was starting to slow down when I was hired, but I love when brides use specialty linens on sweetheart tables.

If you aren’t working, where would we find you on the weekend?: At the beach or with my little brother!

What is your favorite part of the setup process at an event?: I love that I get to help a bride’s special day come together! Looking at the finished product is always a great feeling.

What is the most significant thing you’ve learned from working in the event industry so far?: I’ve learned that anything can go wrong during a setup/breakdown. It is important to be prepared for the unexpected.
