Waterford Wednesday: Bridal Show Tips 2

Happy Waterford Wednesday!
We’ve been in bridal show mode for the past couple of weekends, and with our 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision event quickly approaching (March 4 – don’t forget!), we thought it was about time for another set of bridal show tips! We’ve done a couple of these posts in the past – like our bridal show FAQ where we answered some basic questions about what to expect at a bridal show, and then our first set of bridal show tips last year around this same time! Bridal shows can be a little intimidating, especially if you’ve never attended one before, so our hope is that these little tips make your experience easier and that you get the most out of the show!

Quality vs. Quantity

Bridal shows are definitely exciting to attend – especially if you’re recently engaged, but we think the “quality over quantity” concept applies here as well! While it’s important to attend a few shows to make sure you’re seeing the various vendors in the area, you don’t want to get “bridal show burnout” by attending every single one, every single weekend. Limiting yourself to two or three shows will ensure you have the experience and knowledge that can come from these shows, but that you’re not overwhelming yourself or wasting your time!

Know Your Availability

A lot of times, vendors will have special deals or promotions for people that set up a meeting right on the spot at a show. Because of this, it’s important to know your general availability so you don’t miss out on these great offers! Looking at your calendar beforehand and writing down a few dates/times that you’re free will save you the stress of having to remember at the show.

Take Photos & Notes

As we mentioned above, bridal shows can be overwhelming. These shows are large productions with a lot of vendors present and a lot to look at! There is a high possibility that you will forget a lot of things that you see, so taking notes and pictures is crucial! You want to remember the things you liked about a particular vendor or the person that you spoke with at a certain booth. Not only do photos and notes help in remembering what you saw and liked, but it also gives you the opportunity to go home and reflect after you’ve had an opportunity to wind down from the show.

Remember Your Budget!

One of our top tips (and hardest for many to follow!) is to remember your budget! Creating a budget is one of the first things you do when you start wedding planning – and for good reason! It’s so easy to get out of control with ideas, so sticking to a strict budget is so important. Wedding industry professionals are some of the most creative people around, so you will see many ideas and services that you never would’ve thought of at bridal shows. While it is fine to check out these unique ideas as an option for your wedding, you should make sure that you have room in your budget before you commit to anything!

Waterford Wednesday: The Historic Post Office Opening

Happy Waterford Wednesday!
We had such a fun and busy weekend at the Uniquely Yours Bridal Showcase presented by House of Maya! It got us super excited for our 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision Event…which, by the way, is in less than 2 months! How did that happen?! Time is just flying by, and having our design meeting yesterday with some of the participants in the show made it much more real! Speaking of design meetings, we are sharing pictures from The Historic Post Office grand opening today. We have been anticipating the opening of this gorgeous new venue for months now, and we can’t wait to see many of our clients get married here! Not only were our mahogany chiavari chairs (that we store on-site!) featured at the grand opening, but all of our linens as well! So many fabulous Hampton Roads vendors were part of the team that transformed this venue for the grand opening, and no detail was left untouched! This is going to be such a sought after venue for brides all across Coastal Virginia, and the team at The Historic Post Office really did an amazing job renovating this area to fit the needs of a wedding/event (the bridal suite is serious #goals!).

Waterford Wednesday: WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards 2017

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Remember last year when we shared the exciting news that we had reached 100 client reviews on WeddingWire? Well, we’re thrilled that we have received a 2017 Couples’ Choice Award! According to WeddingWire, this particular award recognizes “the top five percent of local wedding professionals on WeddingWire who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness, and professionalism. Winners are determined by reviews from over a million WeddingWire newlyweds.” We have received this award for the past 5 years (2013-2017) and we are still just as excited as we were the very first year!weddingwireIf you’re not familiar with WeddingWire, it’s basically an awesome resource for engaged couples to find the best of the best vendors in their area. Client satisfaction is top priority at Waterford, so for the Couples’ Choice Award to be based on reviews directly from our clients is such an amazing accomplishment to us! Last January, we hit 100 reviews on the WeddingWire website, and we are now up to 139 reviews as of this posting, with a 5/5 star rating! Waterford Wednesday: 2016 Year In Review

Happy New Year, friends!
We can hardly believe that 2017 is already here! These year in review posts are always one of our favorites to write because it gives us a chance to reflect on the past year and all of the major milestones and goals we achieved. 2016 was such a huge year for Waterford. It seems like we say that every year, but we are continually focused on growing, which is exactly what we did this year! We couldn’t have imagined all of the amazing accomplishments we would have achieved this past year. Take a look at some of our favorite and most exciting moments of the year!

Our 2016 started off on a high note when we announced our 3rd Annual Crystal Clear Vision event! We gave some exclusive information about all of the amazing participants who would be joining the one of a kind bridal show, along with the big news that we had partnered with Mayapalooza to put on the ultimate bridal showcase in Coastal Virginia. Winter was also an exciting time for our business as we hit 100 reviews on WeddingWire – we could not have achieved this huge milestone without our amazing clients! As we prepared for the many bridal shows this season brings, Alyse and Rebecca went to TSE in sunny Florida to expand their education in the industry, and came back with so many fresh and inspiring ideas for Waterford! To round out winter, we were thrilled to finally add gold chiavari chairs to our inventory!

Spring is always a really exciting time for Waterford, as that is when our anniversary is! Celebrating five years of being in business was definitely the highlight of this season. Springtime at Waterford is most often dedicated to preparing for the crazy wedding season that the summer months bring! We participated in many styled shoots with some of our favorite vendors throughout this time. We also got to participate in the under the sea inspired 2016 ILEA Gala! We provided all of the linens and chairs for the gala and Alyse was named the Director of Communications for the chapter!

The biggest news of the summer was definitely Rebecca’s engagement! We were so thrilled for her, and are even more excited for her and Cody to get hitched this November! We continued our summer tradition of taking updated staff photos, and Julie Clyde Creative knocked it out of the park with our individual and group shots that are updated on our website! Between our crazy schedule with events and client meetings, we were able to take a step back and provide linens for an epic styled shoot at the NorVA that ended up gracing the cover of Coastal Virginia Magazine, as well as having a 12 page spread!

Wrapping up our year, we were thrilled when one of our very own Waterford gals, Stephanie, got hitched! Another exciting moment was getting to tease our 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision event, with promises that the 2017 event would be bigger and better than ever! Adding mahogany chiavari chairs to our inventory was a perfect way to round out the year! These beauties are stored on-site at the The Historic Post Office, for the convenience of our brides there! Of course, we couldn’t let the holidays pass without our annual Christmas party as well! 

We can’t WAIT to see what amazing things 2017 brings, see you guys next year 🙂
