Waterford Wednesday: Choosing The Best Napkins

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Napkins are one of our favorite ways to add a pop of color or extra detail to a table design. For the most part, they are inexpensive and can really make a huge difference on your tables – small investment, huge impact! We’ve done a couple of posts in the past on our love for napkins, like the different folds you can create, some napkin inspiration, and why they are a great investment! So today we thought we’d discuss another important element of napkins: choosing the right/best kind for your event!

Quality IS Important
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography
It’s true that napkins tend to be on the more inexpensive side of linens, but it’s important to make sure you are getting good quality napkins! While napkins are a beautiful addition to tables, they aren’t just there for looks! The right napkin should make guests feel comfortable knowing that they can clean up after themselves and wipe up any accidental spills as well. Another good thing about having quality napkins at an event is that they can match the rest of your decor impeccably to add to the atmosphere. Though it may seem like a small detail, knowing you have best quality napkins at your event is vital for the success of your occasion!

What To Look For
Photo: David Schwartz Photography
When you’re choosing event napkins, it’s important to figure out if you’d like napkins that are strictly for decor or napkins that are both fashionable and functional (we suggest option 2!). Functional napkins like polyester & satin make for easier clean up, while decor napkins (like sequin!) add a luxurious design element, but aren’t very useful when it comes to eating!

Waterford Wednesday: Make The Most Out Of A Bridal Show (Vendor)

Welcome back to another Waterford Wednesday, friends!
If you follow along with us on Facebook or Instagram, you saw that we made a huge announcement a couple of weeks ago – the 5th annual A Crystal Clear Vision will be held at the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth! The show will be held on February 11, 2018 and we can’t wait transform this gorgeous venue! Our goal for A Crystal Clear Vision is to continue to push the envelope each year with the best vendors, innovative ideas, and cutting edge decor, and we are confident that this year will be the best yet! Stay tuned for more information on this one of a kind event as we get deeper into the planning process!

We’ve done a couple of different posts geared towards brides on helpful tips for attending bridal shows (here & here!), so today we thought we’d given some suggestions specifically for vendors and businesses on how to get the most out of a bridal show!

Make Connections!
Photo: Amanda Manupella Photography
This seems like an obvious tip, right?! Well, when we say make connections, we aren’t just talking about with potential clients…we’re talking about with fellow vendors as well! In the event industry it is so important to connect with other vendors for referral business (and general support + friendship as well!). What happens if a photographer in Coastal Virginia gets an inquiry for a date that they already have booked? They aren’t just going to reply “sorry, I’m booked” they are going to REFER them to another great photographer that they know! Making connections is crucial, friends!

Showcase Your Expertise!

Take advantage of this one of a kind bridal show and display your talent and design aesthetic in a visual way! You want potential clients to see what your company is all about and how their ideas fit in with what you can provide for them! A bridal show is definitely the time to bring your “A” game! Having a booth that stands out from other vendors and announces what you do is a great way to grab immediate attention!

Create/Follow Up With Leads!
Photo: Kirstyn Marie Photography
Having some sort of “lead” tracker at your table/booth is very important! Whether it be an iPad or guest book, you want something to track important information like name, phone number, wedding date, and email! On the other hand, following up is just as important as capturing the information in the first place! If someone is willing to give their personal information, they are likely very interested in what they’ve seen from your company!

Talk! (About Them)
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography

Bridal shows are all about socializing with potential clients, but one thing that is very important is to make sure you are talking about “them” instead of all about “you!” Of course it’s crucial that they know about you, your company, and what you can provide for them, but clients want to feel like you’re interested in them as well! Trust us, brides love to talk about their wedding, so ask them questions – “when did you get engaged?” or “where are you having your wedding?” are great! You will likely have some experience/knowledge on their venue, so use that opportunity to show your expertise as well!

Waterford Wednesday: Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club Wedding

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
We’ve got another gorgeous summer wedding to show you today. This particular wedding was held at the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club, and this venue is one of our absolute favorites for outdoor weddings! The different design possibilities that can be created using the tented outdoor space at the Cavalier Yacht Club, as well as the beautiful views it provides make this venue a top choice for many couples! Check out the beauty that the team at Emily Weddings created in these amazing photos by Echard Wheeler Photography! What a beautiful reception space! We will definitely be swooning over the magic that Stage Right Lighting created in this tented area. Not only was the lighting beautiful during the daytime, but it was a showstopper at night! We also loved this couples choice to go for blush & ivory linens, gold plate chargers, and sequins table runners. There was just enough glamour in the linens without taking away from the beauty that was hanging above the guests! As always, some incredible Hampton Roads vendors came together to create another magical event for a special couple!

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
You’re in for a treat today with some gorgeous photos from a gold and blush wedding that was held at Oyster Farm and Eatery! This venue is definitely a favorite of ours and this wedding left no detail untouched – it was truly a beautiful day! Check out some of our favorite shots that Elizabeth Friske Photography captured, and head to her blog for more photos from the day!^^ LOVING these mismatched bridesmaid dresses!
First, we need to take a moment to talk about how beautiful those mismatched bridesmaid dresses are! We love the varying colors and of course the sparkle! And don’t event get us started on those two donut displays – love those so much! Kristine + David really knocked it out of the park with all of the detail that they put into their designs and had the best little touches throughout their whole wedding! We loved the use of our gold sequin table runners in contrast with the soft blush pink of the napkins that they had on top of gold chargers and gold beaded glass chargers! Blush + Gold + White really is such a beautiful and crisp color combination that we adore!

Waterford Wednesday: Picking The Best Vendors For YOU!

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Today we decided to stray a little bit away from our normal linen focused posts and talk about something that will hopefully be very helpful to those of you planning an upcoming event! Planning any event can be super stressful with all of the decisions that need to be made, and choosing vendors is one that many people struggle with. You may have narrowed your choices down to a handful of great options, but biting the bullet and deciding can oftentimes be very difficult, so today we’ve gathered a few helpful tips and things to consider to help you find your perfect vendor matches!

Inventory
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography
This one seems easy, right? Just pick the vendor/company who has the stuff you need. Well, not so fast! Of course you want to choose the vendor that has the inventory you want/need, but in reality, many different vendors probably have what you need. So, since you have options, how do you pick the vendor with the right inventory for you? Find a vendor whose design aesthetic is similar to yours, that way when you decide to add on more items or change things up they will still have inventory that matches your design. Setting up a visit to their office or a sit down design meeting are musts when picking out inventory because not all inventory is created equal! You need to make sure you love what you’re paying for!

Personal Fit
Photo: Kirstyn Marie Photography Design: Emily Weddings
You probably know by now what your general design aesthetic is for your event and what kind of “planner” you are. You might be the type who has a bullet point list of pricing/tasks to complete, or perhaps you are more free form in your approach and aren’t sure of your whole vision yet. Knowing what kind of personality and attitude you have towards your event will help to inform what vendors would be a good fit for you. If you are the first type of person, you probably want a vendor who values efficiency and timeliness. The second type of person might need vendors who are able to offer a lot of different ideas and have time to brainstorm and dream.

Network

Coastal Virginia is such a collaborative area and many of the best vendors have the community over competition mindset, which is great news for you! Even vendors in the same industry work together often, offer advice, and refer other vendors when appropriate, and this is definitely something you should use to your advantage! Ask your current vendors if they have recommendations or if they have worked with particular vendors before. At Waterford, we love to sit down with our clients in design meetings and offer suggestions for you based on your personality type, style, and budget if requested!

There are a fantastic pool of vendors in Coastal Virginia, so who you choose will sure to make your event perfect!
