Tips for Being Prepared on a Virtual Design Meeting

Happy Waterford Wednesday! While spending some time thinking of the perfect blog topic for this week- this idea just popped into my head & I’m just going to run with it. As we are in the middle of a very crazy & unknown time that has come with Coronavirus- you may have noticed lots of vendors still trying to keep the planning alive! We, along with a lot of other local Coastal Virginia vendors are encouraging those planning big events to keep. on. planning. While it’s clear that there are restrictions with regards to businesses being open for in person meetings and consults, the sky is the limit with meeting them virtually!!!

Here at Waterford Event Rentals, this virus has allowed us to incorporate things into our daily lives that we have been wanting to for quite some time. For example, it is now available for everyone to look at our calendar and schedule themselves for a virtual meeting all on their own. This eliminates one additional step for you as a consumer & the possibilities of playing phone tag- which I’m sure we all run into on occasions.

When scheduling a virtual design meeting with us- here are some things you can expect! Once you schedule the appointment, you will receive an email from us confirming that you got your appointment. At this time, we ask you for a few vital details to make the most of your time during the virtual meeting. Also, very important in this email you will receive your Zoom meeting ID and password.

So now what? This is where you should begin to think of a few questions that you want to ask your event professionals. WE are here for YOU. We want you to feel comfortable & want to make sure if you have concerns, those get addressed! Here are some things you can do to better inform your professionals on what exactly you’re looking for. Send pictures! All of them- even if you’re only referencing one small detail in a huge Pinterest collage, all those tiny details matter to us! Send us your guest counts and overestimate. It’s always better to expect too many people early on than to risk items getting double booked closer to your big day. Let us know where the event is being held, and any information you’ve received from them that might be important for us to know- for example, can you get early access to the venue? Do items have to be removed from the venue the day of? These are all questions you will want to know and can possibly save you some money in the long run. Last tip- don’t be afraid to ask them specifics.

Elevate Your Space With Chiavari Chairs

One of the easiest ways to elevate your ceremony or reception space is to add chiavari chairs. These chairs add a glamorous, expensive look to any space they take over! We love a chiavari chair for other reasons like giving you an opportunity to add sashes to the chair which can make them stand out even more.

From afar, the gold chiavari chairs add such a romantic look to a full ceremony space.Chelsea Anderson PhotographyJessica Ryan Photography

Adding chiavari chairs gives another subtle way to incorporate a huge part of your wedding colors to your reception space.DCPG Photography

Having your ceremony outside? Our chiavari chairs make for the perfect versatile piece for your guests to enjoy your vows and then again once they’re moved for your reception. Looking to add some small details as well- add a sash or cute bow to the aisle chairs for some extra personalization.Gian Valdivia Photography

One of our favorite ways to pair a chiavari chair is with the rustic, natural look of our farm tables. It’s like bringing two worlds together with an elegant, natural, romantic feel. Don’t you agree?

Mahogany chiavari chairs allow for a more neutral, earthy look to your guest tables. And our favorite addition is having chiffon sashes woven through the chairs for a delicate look.Table Design: Fluttering Flowers | Chandelier Rigging: Stage Right Lighting | Linens: Waterford Event Rentals | Photography: Katie Nesbitt Photography

If you want your ceremony or reception space to be the talk of the town we definitely recommend throwing some chiavari chairs in the mix. We carry chairs in gold resin, mahogany resin, and white wood- all three of which can accomplish any look that you’re going for.

You don’t want to miss out on these beauties! Call or email us to book chairs for your big event before it’s too late!

Spring 2020 Hot Trend!

Happy Waterford Wednesday y’all! Today we are talking about one of the most trending items we have been seeing- and we’re not mad about it. This blog is about all things chiffon! Chiffon has been super popular for us this last year and the requests keep growing! These can be used in a few different ways and the color options are endless.

Often, we see chiffon used as a decorative runner that can be bunched, draped, woven through centerpieces for a head table or to add some color to a beautiful wooden farm table.Table Design: Inspired Events by Kelly | Photography: Leigh Skaggs Photography

The runners are so versatile they can even be draped horizontally on the table or at a diagonal. Imagination is key when it comes to adding chiffon into your design.
Table Design: The Twisted Fork | Photography: Caitlin Gerres Photography

Another way to add some chiffon in your life is to add some chiffon sashes to the chairs of your head table! What a beautiful way to make those people closest to you stand out with a chair design like this!Table Design: Big Top Entertainment | Photography: Kirstyn Marie Photography

Looking for some chiffon but want something a little different than the woven look? Yup! We can do that too! These chairs are tied in a 4 corner knot and accented with a beautiful and dainty floral arrangement. This would be PERFECT for a romantic sweetheart table. Don’t you agree?Table Design: Vivd Expressions | Photography: Katie Nesbitt Photography

Another way to incorporate chiffon in a show stopping way- weave the entire back row of your ceremony chairs. This is sure to take the breath away of your guests AND ensure you get wedding photos back that look like this!Photography: Amanda Hedgepeth Photography

Planning on a fun dessert bar, popcorn bar, or pretzel station?? Adding a colored chiffon runner to that table is a simple way to bring those wedding colors in too.Table Design: Big Top Entertainment | Photography: Kirstyn Marie Photography

It’s pretty obvious why chiffon is one of our favorite linen pieces right?? We weren’t kidding, you can do ANYTHING with them. And the color options are sure to catch your eye. We carry chiffon runners in a multitude of colors including but not limited to: white, ivory, taupe, black, light grey, charcoal, burgundy, hunter green, mustard yellow, coral, navy, dusty blue, dusty rose, mauve, wisteria. Guys I could go on for days!!!

Top 5 Questions to Get Answered on a Venue Tour

Lots of times when meeting with our couples, we find there are some super important questions that haven’t been answered yet that are all about the venue! When meeting with an event rental company it’s crucial to have some information about what comes with the venue rental. In this blog, we are breaking down the FIVE most important questions to get answered while on a venue tour. This helps you be more prepared as you continue to meet with vendors, especially when coming to us for linen rentals & helps us know a little bit more about what you need from us to complete the wedding of your dreams!

1. What size tables AND quantity come with venue rental & are they in good condition?

Why this is important: knowing the table information helps us tremendously when suggesting the perfect linens for your tables. It allows us to get you an accurate quote with the proper linen sizes and eliminates the guessing game. Don’t forget to make sure you ask about cocktail tables too!!Erika Mills Photography

2. Do they include any linens with venue rental? If so- what colors and are they in good condition?

Why this is important: already knowing if a venue provides linens that you plan to use helps us decide what additional items for your tables you may need. Can we add some overlays, runners, charger plates to those tables to spruce them up & give them the perfect finishing touch, or do we get to start from scratch and pick everything for the table including the linens of your choice!

3. Does this venue include chairs?

Why this is important: knowing if a chair rental is included in your venue could make or break why you choose one spot over another. It also gives you an idea of the vibe and look of your wedding once you have those chairs in your head during the design process. This can also eliminate an additional expense.

4. If the venue offers a space for an outdoor ceremony- can those chairs be used both inside and outside?

Why this is important: this will help you avoid an additional expense that you may not have been expecting. Chair rentals are one of those things you need to lock down ASAP. The sooner you know if an additional chair rental is needed for the outside ceremony space, the better! Plus, some venues only allow folding chairs outside so it’s better to have all that information ahead of time.Leigh Skaggs Photography

5. How early in advance do you have access to the building to set up?

Why this is important: this will help you alleviate some of the stress that comes with the day of the wedding. Knowing when you can get in the building helps us to offer you the best services. If you have a room flip with only an hour of time between ceremony & reception, we 100% recommend having our staff prepped onsite at the end of the ceremony to have additional hands on deck to take care of the linens and/or chairs while the catering team focuses on their thing & so your coordinator can focus on their thing.

We hope all of this tips help you on your next venue tour! Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

2020 Color of the Year!

We are soooo stoked that the color blue has been chosen as this year’s Pantone Color of the Year. Just to remind you, here are the Pantone Colors of the Year for the last couple years: 2019- coral, 2018- violet, 2017- greenery. When it comes to picking wedding colors, there are a few that will always remain classics, blue is one of them. Some of the other colors that are a good go to when deciding what to pick for your big day include blush, navy, burgundy, greenery, and all things neutral.

This week for the blog we wanted to take it back to some of our FAVORITE blue weddings- we know you will just love.Kirstyn Marie Photography

This romantic look was from a few years ago using one of the most beautiful, classic prints. This blue pottery print linen was used all throughout this wedding in the form of linens, runners, and sashes. The clean look of the white plates on top of the gold chargers provide the most beautiful place setting.Dani White Photography

This wedding from the Half Moone incorporated a simple blue “Panama” napkin among our “Ivory Belize” tablecloth with hopes to give their guests an elegant tropical feel.Planner: Antonia Christianson Events | Photography: Ethan Yang Photography

Who doesn’t love a good sash? Adding in that wedding color with a sash is such a fun way to bring your chairs to life & likely would be something unexpected by your guests.Rob Korb Photography

This next photo- I mean it just speaks for itself. The colors, the patterns, the vibrancy. WE. LOVE. IT. ALL. Blue is just one of those colors that you really can just tie into anything & this photo shows nothing less.Dragon Photo Studio

Throwing it back to a fall shoot we did with an INCREDIBLE vision. We are using the fun blue and white pattern with super vibrant floral. Did you peep the navy velvet napkin too? To die for.Design: Lustre Theory | Photography: Molly Lichten Photography

After this, don’t you just love the 2020 Color of the Year?? We sure do.

One of the most fun tablescapes we’ve seen in a while included our super popular chiffon runners layered with macrame runners. Southern Fall Wedding

Back in the heart of fall we got to take part in a beautiful wedding at one of the most beautiful venues. Nikki and Brennan tied the knot at the Oyster Farm Marina out on the Eastern Shore. Their decor was stunning and so unique we couldn’t wait to get these photos in. This wedding was one to remember for a few reasons! We loveeee that Nikki  wasn’t afraid to play with texture & she used some of these linens to go with the neutral, fall beachy vibe. Her decor included cute little pumpkins, oysters, and our favorite part: COTTON! How cool are these centerpieces? This wedding was so elegant and really left us remembering just how beautiful all the details turned out together. For the cake table Nikki chose one of our new, most popular linens: Belize Natural Nutmeg. To bring all the small details together she paired this with her napkin choice as well.On the deck for cocktail hour, she used a beautiful polyester stripe ivory linen which were topped with cute pumpkins and greenery.Love love love this wedding & can’t wait to see what beautiful ideas are in store for us with Spring wedding season almost here!
