Waterford Wednesday: Lasting Trends

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
We’ve got a fun little post for you today all about trends! As we all know, trends come and go – some better than others. Everyone has those few pictures that they look back on and just cringe at the clothing, hairstyle, or makeup choice at the time, right? Well, when it comes to your wedding day (aka one of the best days of your life!), you don’t want to look back on your beautiful photos with those same sentiments! While it’s definitely important to express yourself and your vision for your wedding day, it might also be a good time to think about the future and how you’ll feel about your choices after the fact. Today we’ve rounded up three easy tips to ensure you have gorgeous wedding linens that will remain timeless throughout the years!

Neutrals Are Your Friend!

Trust us, it’s no coincidence that linens in neutral colors are present at almost all weddings! Whether it be the classics like white, ivory, and khaki, or the newcomers – blush and champagne, there is always a little hint of a neutral linen! This is because they really represent a timeless color palette that will look great for years to come! They blend well together, as well as being a nice compliment to any other accent color you may decide on.

Trends Fade!
One important thing to remember about trends is that they almost always fade! Sure, they may make a comeback (hello 90’s choker!), but that’s not always a guarantee! You don’t want to risk choosing a very specific linen or color palette for your wedding just because it’s “on trend,” only to hate it days, weeks, or years after your wedding. Wouldn’t regretting a big piece of your wedding be terrible?! A good tip to follow would be to take a look at weddings over the years. What color palettes or trends do you notice that are still relevant and beautiful today? Go with those!

Think About Accents

Accent colors are also something that you should definitely consider when planning the linens for your wedding! While a floral napkin mixed with an equally bright table overlay may be super on trend right now, chances are that trend will fade, and you may not be too thrilled with your choice in the future. Accent colors are supposed to do just that, accentuate what you already have – give emphasis to it! When thinking about your accent colors, a good idea would be to take our first tip into account (neutrals, neutrals, neutrals!) and add a nice accent on top in the form of a napkin or table runner!

Waterford Wednesday: Linens For Every Budget

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
As with every blog post leading up to our big event, we have to mention that A Crystal Clear Vision is now less than a month away! There are exciting new additions being added to the event each day, so this is definitely a show you don’t want to miss out on!
One of the great things about A Crystal Clear Vision is that you get to see a whole range of Waterford linens and products. You’ll see some of our go-to standard linens, as well as our beloved high quality specialty linens – all in one area! As wedding industry professionals, we understand that each and every person has a different budget for their wedding, so it’s important to us to be sure we provide a wide array of linens at different price points. Today we’re going to show you how your event can shine with linens whether you have a small or large linen budget.

Modest

If you have a modest linen budget, there are so many different combinations that you can take advantage of, without going over your budget. Napkins are always one of our favorite ways to dress up a table at a lower cost! Using one of our basic polyester linens is another way to make your tables look clean and put together without spending a lot of money. If you get lucky with a venue that will provide your base linens, you could get away with renting some gorgeous table runners that could bring color and texture to your design at a lower price point as well!

Standard/Higher-End

If you’re a bride that has carved out a higher linen budget for your wedding, there is a lot more wiggle room to get creative with your design! The use of full length linens on every table come into play, as well as the option of utilizing specialty linens on some of your more important tables such as your sweetheart and cake table. Plate chargers are another visually appealing product that you could think about including with a standard/higher-end linen budget!

If linens are one of the most important components to you at your wedding, there are so many options to make your design look expensive and lavish! The option to use specialty linens on all of your tables comes into play, as well as napkins and plate chargers to bring the whole look together. You can experiment with layering different linens to bring an added interesting component as well. With a higher budget for linens and products, looking into renting chiavari chairs for your event becomes another potential possibility that will make the whole room look extravagant and thoughtfully put together!

We are just over a month away from the 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision Event and things are moving fast – with participant design meetings, last minute decisions, and overall planning and excitement for the event! If you haven’t purchased your ticket for the March 4th event yet, head on over to do so now…you’re not going to want to miss this! One of the coolest things about our annual Crystal Clear Vision Event is that it is always evolving. It’s an event that can be attended year after year due to the ever-changing participants and trends within our industry. Waterford Wednesday: Bridal Show Tips 2

We’ve been in bridal show mode for the past couple of weekends, and with our 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision event quickly approaching (March 4 – don’t forget!), we thought it was about time for another set of bridal show tips! We’ve done a couple of these posts in the past – like our bridal show FAQ where we answered some basic questions about what to expect at a bridal show, and then our first set of bridal show tips last year around this same time! Bridal shows can be a little intimidating, especially if you’ve never attended one before, so our hope is that these little tips make your experience easier and that you get the most out of the show!

Quality vs. Quantity

Bridal shows are definitely exciting to attend – especially if you’re recently engaged, but we think the “quality over quantity” concept applies here as well! While it’s important to attend a few shows to make sure you’re seeing the various vendors in the area, you don’t want to get “bridal show burnout” by attending every single one, every single weekend. Limiting yourself to two or three shows will ensure you have the experience and knowledge that can come from these shows, but that you’re not overwhelming yourself or wasting your time!

Know Your Availability

A lot of times, vendors will have special deals or promotions for people that set up a meeting right on the spot at a show. Because of this, it’s important to know your general availability so you don’t miss out on these great offers! Looking at your calendar beforehand and writing down a few dates/times that you’re free will save you the stress of having to remember at the show.

Take Photos & Notes

As we mentioned above, bridal shows can be overwhelming. These shows are large productions with a lot of vendors present and a lot to look at! There is a high possibility that you will forget a lot of things that you see, so taking notes and pictures is crucial! You want to remember the things you liked about a particular vendor or the person that you spoke with at a certain booth. Not only do photos and notes help in remembering what you saw and liked, but it also gives you the opportunity to go home and reflect after you’ve had an opportunity to wind down from the show.

Remember Your Budget!

One of our top tips (and hardest for many to follow!) is to remember your budget! Creating a budget is one of the first things you do when you start wedding planning – and for good reason! It’s so easy to get out of control with ideas, so sticking to a strict budget is so important. Wedding industry professionals are some of the most creative people around, so you will see many ideas and services that you never would’ve thought of at bridal shows. While it is fine to check out these unique ideas as an option for your wedding, you should make sure that you have room in your budget before you commit to anything!

Waterford Wednesday: The Historic Post Office Opening

Happy Waterford Wednesday!
We had such a fun and busy weekend at the Uniquely Yours Bridal Showcase presented by House of Maya! It got us super excited for our 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision Event…which, by the way, is in less than 2 months! How did that happen?! Time is just flying by, and having our design meeting yesterday with some of the participants in the show made it much more real! Speaking of design meetings, we are sharing pictures from The Historic Post Office grand opening today. We have been anticipating the opening of this gorgeous new venue for months now, and we can’t wait to see many of our clients get married here! Not only were our mahogany chiavari chairs (that we store on-site!) featured at the grand opening, but all of our linens as well! So many fabulous Hampton Roads vendors were part of the team that transformed this venue for the grand opening, and no detail was left untouched! This is going to be such a sought after venue for brides all across Coastal Virginia, and the team at The Historic Post Office really did an amazing job renovating this area to fit the needs of a wedding/event (the bridal suite is serious #goals!).

Remember last year when we shared the exciting news that we had reached 100 client reviews on WeddingWire? Well, we’re thrilled that we have received a 2017 Couples’ Choice Award! According to WeddingWire, this particular award recognizes “the top five percent of local wedding professionals on WeddingWire who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness, and professionalism. Winners are determined by reviews from over a million WeddingWire newlyweds.” We have received this award for the past 5 years (2013-2017) and we are still just as excited as we were the very first year!weddingwireIf you’re not familiar with WeddingWire, it’s basically an awesome resource for engaged couples to find the best of the best vendors in their area. Client satisfaction is top priority at Waterford, so for the Couples’ Choice Award to be based on reviews directly from our clients is such an amazing accomplishment to us! Waterford Wednesday: 2016 Year In Review

We can hardly believe that 2017 is already here! These year in review posts are always one of our favorites to write because it gives us a chance to reflect on the past year and all of the major milestones and goals we achieved. 2016 was such a huge year for Waterford. It seems like we say that every year, but we are continually focused on growing, which is exactly what we did this year! We couldn’t have imagined all of the amazing accomplishments we would have achieved this past year. Take a look at some of our favorite and most exciting moments of the year!

Our 2016 started off on a high note when we announced our 3rd Annual Crystal Clear Vision event! We gave some exclusive information about all of the amazing participants who would be joining the one of a kind bridal show, along with the big news that we had partnered with Mayapalooza to put on the ultimate bridal showcase in Coastal Virginia. Winter was also an exciting time for our business as we hit 100 reviews on WeddingWire – we could not have achieved this huge milestone without our amazing clients! As we prepared for the many bridal shows this season brings, Alyse and Rebecca went to TSE in sunny Florida to expand their education in the industry, and came back with so many fresh and inspiring ideas for Waterford! To round out winter, we were thrilled to finally add gold chiavari chairs to our inventory!

Spring is always a really exciting time for Waterford, as that is when our anniversary is! Celebrating five years of being in business was definitely the highlight of this season. Springtime at Waterford is most often dedicated to preparing for the crazy wedding season that the summer months bring! We participated in many styled shoots with some of our favorite vendors throughout this time. We also got to participate in the under the sea inspired 2016 ILEA Gala! We provided all of the linens and chairs for the gala and Alyse was named the Director of Communications for the chapter!

The biggest news of the summer was definitely Rebecca’s engagement! We were so thrilled for her, and are even more excited for her and Cody to get hitched this November! We continued our summer tradition of taking updated staff photos, and Julie Clyde Creative knocked it out of the park with our individual and group shots that are updated on our website! Between our crazy schedule with events and client meetings, we were able to take a step back and provide linens for an epic styled shoot at the NorVA that ended up gracing the cover of Coastal Virginia Magazine, as well as having a 12 page spread!

Wrapping up our year, we were thrilled when one of our very own Waterford gals, Stephanie, got hitched! Another exciting moment was getting to tease our 4th Annual Crystal Clear Vision event, with promises that the 2017 event would be bigger and better than ever! Adding mahogany chiavari chairs to our inventory was a perfect way to round out the year! These beauties are stored on-site at the The Historic Post Office, for the convenience of our brides there! Of course, we couldn’t let the holidays pass without our annual Christmas party as well! 

We can’t WAIT to see what amazing things 2017 brings, see you guys next year 🙂

Waterford Wednesday: Winter Events

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
Although it’s been pretty chilly for the last couple of weeks, today is officially the first day of winter! This time of the year is considered a slower season for many in the event industry, but with holiday parties and winter weddings, linens are always needed! Though not technically in the months that make up “wedding/event season,” winter events can actually take a lot more planning than one might think. So today we’ve rounded up some brief tips to help make sure your winter event goes off without a hitch!

  Rent Early!

As we mentioned above, summer and spring months are considered the busy wedding/event season, but it’s important to rent and reserve your vendors early in the winter months as well! Not only are there a lot of holiday parties happening around the winter months, but you should also consider the fact that your potential vendors may have varying hours over the holiday season!

Send Invites Early!

With winter being one of the busiest travel times during the year, it’s crucial that you send out your invitations early! If you want certain people at your event (especially close family and friends!), then this is a necessary step to take! Your guests will appreciate the advanced notice, and they will have plenty of time to work their plans and schedules around your event!

Prepare for Weather!

The last thing that you want to worry about during the planning of your winter event is weather, but it’s something that definitely needs to be in the forefront of your mind. Depending on the area you live in, weather (especially during the winter months!) can be very unpredictable, so staying in the know is key. Preparing and creating a backup plan for unpredictable weather, along with the delays and cancellations that come with it, will save you from a stressful panic should it happen the day of your event!

Waterford Wednesday: 2017 Pantone Color of the Year

The Pantone Color of the Year announcement is always one of our favorites, (check out our 2016 & 2015 blog posts!) and we think they nailed the choice for 2017! Last week, the team at Pantone made the big announcement that the color of the year is…Greenery!
pantone-color-of-the-year-2017-greenery-15-0343There is a lot of time and thought that goes into choosing the color of the year, and one of the specifications for the color is that it is supposed to serve as a representation for the whole year. Well, the symbolic meaning of Greenery is “new beginnings,” and we think that is just perfect – especially from a wedding industry standpoint! Greenery is a shade that we see pop up often at events, and Pantone describes it as a “trans-seasonal” shade that can be paired with many different color combinations, which is key in the event industry! We’ve got an exciting post for you today talking all about some of our new products! One of our biggest goals at Waterford is to stay on trend with the wedding industry and keep our inventory stacked with great linens and products that our clients will love. Just like fashion, linen trends come and go, so it’s important for us to constantly be up to date on what our clients want and need. As many of your already know, all of us at Waterford are huge fans of sequins, so this linen speaks to us on so many levels! We just love the fact that this linen puts an interesting twist on a traditional sequins linen with the added leaf pattern. This linen is super versatile and can be used for a “special” table such as your sweetheart or cake table, but could also work great on your guest tables!

We love the vintage feel of this linen and the glitter touch is amazing without being overwhelming. One of the things we love about this linen is the color – it’s so different from many of the colors we have in our inventory, so that definitely adds to the appeal!
