Waterford Wednesday: Linen & Rentals Budget Tips

Happy Waterford Wednesday and Thanksgiving Eve, friends!
We are so excited about these next few holiday-heavy months coming up – it really is the best time of the year! While many of us will get to relax and enjoy time with our families, we can’t forget that there are still many events happening around this time too. The holidays can be overwhelming in themselves and adding in an event can become expensive. From linens, venue, dress, flowers, etc. there are so many decisions and expenses to think about. Sometimes, brides tend to cut linen rentals completely out of their budget because they don’t think that it will make that big of a difference. Obviously, we disagree with this! If you’re looking to still utilize some gorgeous linens/rentals in your wedding without going over budget, we’ve combined some tips just for you!

Embrace Table Runners & Overlays
It seems like table runners and overlays are often overlooked when picking linens for weddings. We carry MANY different colors and patterns in both of these linens, and they could really be your saving grace when it comes to cost! If the venue you choose offers complimentary base linens, throwing a table runner or overlay on top will give your table that pop of color and pattern, yet won’t have you over your budget as they are significantly less expensive than a full table linen. Table runners even look great on tables without a linen underneath!

Add Accent Tables Throughout

We absolutely love our specialty linens, but they can definitely become pricey if used on every single table. To save on costs without jeopardizing the overall beautiful look of your wedding, using basic linens and then alternating some tables with specialty linens is an excellent idea! It will create a great visual appeal of the whole room and will give guests many different eye-catching views.

Get The Most Out Of Your Chairs

Choosing a chair that you can use for both the ceremony and reception is a great way to save a bit of cash! Of course you will want to check that your venue can accommodate a quick changeover during cocktail hour, though!

Waterford Wednesday: Winter & Holiday Events!

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
The weather outside is getting chilly, winter is well on its way, and we are thinking about the holiday’s here at Waterford! Although the first day of winter isn’t technically until the end of next month, NOW is the time to start thinking about and planning your holiday festivities! Winter and holiday events can actually take a lot more planning than one might think, especially when you consider all of the details that go into them! So today we’ve rounded up some brief tips to help make sure your winter event goes off without a hitch!

  Rent Early!
 Photo: Will Hawkins Photography
While summer and spring months are considered the busy wedding/event season, it’s important to rent and reserve your vendors early in the winter months as well! Not only are there a lot of holiday parties happening around the winter months, but you should also consider the fact that your potential vendors may have varying hours over the holiday season!

Send Invites Early!

With winter being one of the busiest travel times during the year, it’s crucial that you send out your invitations early! If you want certain people at your event (especially close family and friends!), then this is a necessary step to take! Your guests will appreciate the advanced notice, and they will have plenty of time to work their plans and schedules around your event!

Prepare for Weather!

The last thing that you want to worry about during the planning of your winter event is weather, but it’s something that definitely needs to be in the forefront of your mind. Depending on the area you live in, weather (especially during the winter months!) can be very unpredictable, so staying in the know is key. Preparing and creating a backup plan for unpredictable weather, along with the delays and cancellations that come with it, will save you from a stressful panic should it happen the day of your event!

Waterford Wednesday: Statement Table Runners

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
Today’s post is all about one of our favorite {and easy!} ways to spruce up any table: table runners! We talk a lot about our love of specialty table linens, but table runners are a wonderful way to incorporate your event color without having to use a full length specialty linen – win, win! Here are some of our favorite, fun table runners:

Black + White StripesPhoto: Melissa Kilner Photography
We just adore our black + white striped table runners! One thing we love about these particular runners is how versatile they are – they look great on their own, or they can enhance a table design with a base linen as well!

Rosette on Mesh

Not only is our Rosette on Mesh gorgeous in a full length linen, but we adore it as a runner too! There are so many ways to utilize this runner, whether it be understated with a basic table linen as the base or more glamorous with a sequin linen as the base. Either way, the Rosette runner brings the perfect amount of texture to the table!

Navy + White Stripe

Our Navy + White Stripe runners are always a favorite for our nautical and beach loving brides! These particular table linens are so versatile as well and often serve as the “pop” or “wow” piece of the table setting due to the pattern.

Macrame

Our macrame runners are one of our new favorites! We used these beauties on our Waterford tabletop design at one of our ILEA meetings, and our visions of boho meets southern charm was brought to life with the macrame runners!

Waterford Wednesday: Norfolk Botanical Gardens Weddings

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends! We’re excited for today’s post – it’s filled with a lot of pretty! We recently got pictures from Luke and Ashley Photography from a wedding we provided linens for at Norfolk Botanical Gardens and they are absolutely stunning! Norfolk Botanical Gardens is such a gorgeous venue and this couple definitely took advantage of the beautiful surroundings.
Such a beautiful and BRIGHT wedding! We loved how crisp, clean, and classic everything looked – a lighter color scheme really creates a whimsical and romantic setting that is perfect for a wedding! Of course we have to talk about how adorable CJ + Christie’s dog is! Anytime a couple can incorporate their furry family members, we are game! The solid linens on the guest tables matched with our glass chargers and tri-folded napkins made for a perfect place setting, and the specialty linen on the sweetheart table set it apart nicely! Waterford Wednesday: Maximize Your Specialty Linens

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Have you registered for A Crystal Clear Vision 2018 yet? If not, you need to visit our homepage and get on it! Not only can you view fully set reception table, meet the areas best vendors, and explore linen, floral, and lighting designs, but we also feature a lot of our newest specialty linen inventory! There will be table designs styled with many different budgets in mind, so today we thought it’d be helpful to give you our top tips on how to maximize your specialty linen picks, along with some steps to ensure you pull the look off flawlessly!

Use Specialty AND Basic Linens
The top tip we could give when it comes to maximizing specialty linens is to mix & match! Alternating between specialty linens and basic linens on your tables is the perfect way to create a luxury look while also saving you money! This simple tip will give you an expensive feel at your event as well as a nice blend of linens!

Now that we know mixing & matching specialty linens and basic linens is the way to go…how do we achieve this look?

1. Pick Your Color Scheme
Caitlin Gerres Photography
This is the most important step! Deciding on your color palette will get the ball rolling and allow you to see what speciality and basic linen options there are that compliment one another.

2. Decide On Your Speciality Linen(s)
unspecified-51Caitlin Gerres Photography
Deciding on your speciality linen is the next step! Since this linen (or linens) will create the “wow” factor at your event, picking these will come before your basic linen.

3. Pick Your Basic Linens
Erika Mills Photography
When choosing your basic linen, make sure to take note of any colors or textures in your speciality linen(s)! This will be a good guide when deciding on what basics you want to have.

4. Combine

Finally, it’s time to combine everything! Take our top tip (mixing & matching) and see how everything comes together!

Waterford Wednesday: Holiday Event Inspiration

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
It’s officially fall, and if you’ve visited any department stores lately, you know that holiday decor is out in full force! Since the holidays like to sneak up on us every year, we’re jumping ahead of the game and giving you some linen and decor inspiration to make your holiday events festive, exciting, and fun! This time of the year is perfect for getting creative and making some bold choices – check out some of our favorite ideas for holiday parties this season:

Holiday Inspired Decor
Photo: Jessica Ryan Photography
Incorporating holiday decor pieces in your table design is a must at any party! How cute are these wreaths on the back of the chairs in this photo? The touches of red and the small holiday tree figurines are simple touches that make the table festive, but not overwhelming!

Non-Traditional Is Fun Too!
Photo: Leigh Skaggs Photography
When it comes to holiday parties, we like when clients mix it up a little bit! Instead of opting for the traditional reds and greens for Christmas parties, you could use more neutral colored linens such as white and silver, and then use the more traditional colors as your accent decor! Everybody likes to feel like they’re in a “winter wonderland” sometimes!

Sequins, Of Course!

Is a holiday party even considered “fun and festive” without some sort of sequins?! We think not! How fun would our red sequins table linen be for a Christmas party dessert table? With so many different color options available, you could go all out at your holiday party with sequins!

Plate Chargers

If your holiday event has a sit down dinner, plate chargers are the perfect way to bring in some holiday color and cheer! Our red chargers would be awesome for a Christmas party while our gold or silver would look great at a New Year’s event! If you’re going for a more up-scale feel, our glass beaded chargers could be a great addition as well, with a fun napkin folded on top!

Have fun planning or attending holiday parties this year! ‘Tis the season for big celebrations!

Waterford Wednesday: Milky Way Styled Shoot With ISO:ALT

It’s Waterford Wednesday, friends!
We are pumped about the super creative styled shoot we are showing you today – featuring our linens! A couple of months ago, Misty and Mike of ISO:ALT executed the most magical “Milky Way” inspired styled shoot in the mountains of Virginia, and you’re not going to BELIEVE the photos that were captured! The ISO:ALT team made sure no detail was left untouched when planning for this epic shoot – down to the exact day the Milky Way could be seen the best! Check out some of our favorite shots below and don’t forget to head on over to the ISO:ALT blog to see more pictures and read about all of the behind the scenes that went into achieving this shoot!
Aren’t the pictures just breathtaking? EVERYTHING about this shoot was so innovative, and it was so cool for us to get to be a part of something so new in the way of design! We absolutely loved how most of the table elements, along with the model’s dress were black so that the stars were really the “shining” point of all the photos! Misty and Mike made sure to time the shoot perfectly so they could capture photos on a night where the sky was clear and the stars were out in full force! Our black tinsel linen draped on the table gave off just the right amount of sparkle to compliment the night sky!

AMAZING job to all vendors involved, see below!

Waterford Wednesday: Picking Linens on Trend

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
If you follow us on Facebook, you likely saw this video that we shared last week. Crystal with Cherry Blossom Planning Factory stopped by the Waterford office and talked all things linens with Rebecca! Some of the topics included how to add color, texture, and depth with linens as well as some of the trends we’ve seen come and go over the years. We thought it’d be a good idea to bounce off that topic and talk about some helpful tips for picking the best linens/colors for your event!

Consider the Season
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography
Like Rebecca mentions in the video, considering the season can be a big factor in determining the best linen colors for your event – especially if you’re wanting the event to follow the season it will be held in. Peaches and corals paired with Tiffany blues are perfect for summer, while berries and eggplants paired with blush are great for fall!

Get Inspiration
2016-09-04_0056Photo: Andrew & Tianna Photography
Getting inspired is a huge tip when it comes to deciding on linens! Planning any big event can be stressful enough without having to think about what color scheme you’re going to want! But, lucky for you, there are SO MANY bridal magazines and wedding websites/blogs where countless ideas and designs can be at your fingertips! Searching through various visual collections will give you ideas on attractive color combinations as well as give you a sense of what colors you are drawn to.

Embrace White & Neutrals!
Photo: Chelsea Anderson Photography

Many think that white linens are too “basic” but they don’t have to be! White is a standard color for many events, as that is what most people use as the base for their guest tables. Don’t underestimate how crisp, clean, and sharp white is! Major pops of color or texture on white is the perfect way to add attention! Whether it be rosette on mesh table runners, or napkins in varying shades, accentuate the white!

Be Different!
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography
Don’t let the “norm” get in the way of what you like. Choose colors/textures/patterns that you love and that will leave a lasting impression of your event! Often times, colors that aren’t frequently used together come together beautifully when mixed correctly. At the end of the day, this is YOUR event!

Waterford Wednesday: Choosing The Best Napkins

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Napkins are one of our favorite ways to add a pop of color or extra detail to a table design. For the most part, they are inexpensive and can really make a huge difference on your tables – small investment, huge impact! We’ve done a couple of posts in the past on our love for napkins, like the different folds you can create, some napkin inspiration, and why they are a great investment! So today we thought we’d discuss another important element of napkins: choosing the right/best kind for your event!

Quality IS Important
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography
It’s true that napkins tend to be on the more inexpensive side of linens, but it’s important to make sure you are getting good quality napkins! While napkins are a beautiful addition to tables, they aren’t just there for looks! The right napkin should make guests feel comfortable knowing that they can clean up after themselves and wipe up any accidental spills as well. Another good thing about having quality napkins at an event is that they can match the rest of your decor impeccably to add to the atmosphere. Though it may seem like a small detail, knowing you have best quality napkins at your event is vital for the success of your occasion!

What To Look For
Photo: David Schwartz Photography
When you’re choosing event napkins, it’s important to figure out if you’d like napkins that are strictly for decor or napkins that are both fashionable and functional (we suggest option 2!). Functional napkins like polyester & satin make for easier clean up, while decor napkins (like sequin!) add a luxurious design element, but aren’t very useful when it comes to eating!

If you are looking for the best selection of event and wedding napkins, contact us! We have a large selection of different products to ensure your event is exactly how you imagined it.

Waterford Wednesday: Make The Most Out Of A Bridal Show (Vendor)

Welcome back to another Waterford Wednesday, friends!
If you follow along with us on Facebook or Instagram, you saw that we made a huge announcement a couple of weeks ago – the 5th annual A Crystal Clear Vision will be held at the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth! The show will be held on February 11, 2018 and we can’t wait transform this gorgeous venue! Our goal for A Crystal Clear Vision is to continue to push the envelope each year with the best vendors, innovative ideas, and cutting edge decor, and we are confident that this year will be the best yet! Stay tuned for more information on this one of a kind event as we get deeper into the planning process!

We’ve done a couple of different posts geared towards brides on helpful tips for attending bridal shows (here & here!), so today we thought we’d given some suggestions specifically for vendors and businesses on how to get the most out of a bridal show!

Make Connections!
Photo: Amanda Manupella Photography
This seems like an obvious tip, right?! Well, when we say make connections, we aren’t just talking about with potential clients…we’re talking about with fellow vendors as well! In the event industry it is so important to connect with other vendors for referral business (and general support + friendship as well!). What happens if a photographer in Coastal Virginia gets an inquiry for a date that they already have booked? They aren’t just going to reply “sorry, I’m booked” they are going to REFER them to another great photographer that they know! Making connections is crucial, friends!

Showcase Your Expertise!
Photo: Kirstyn Marie Photography
Take advantage of this one of a kind bridal show and display your talent and design aesthetic in a visual way! You want potential clients to see what your company is all about and how their ideas fit in with what you can provide for them! A bridal show is definitely the time to bring your “A” game! Having a booth that stands out from other vendors and announces what you do is a great way to grab immediate attention!

Create/Follow Up With Leads!
Photo: Kirstyn Marie Photography
Having some sort of “lead” tracker at your table/booth is very important! Whether it be an iPad or guest book, you want something to track important information like name, phone number, wedding date, and email! On the other hand, following up is just as important as capturing the information in the first place! If someone is willing to give their personal information, they are likely very interested in what they’ve seen from your company!

Talk! (About Them)
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography

Bridal shows are all about socializing with potential clients, but one thing that is very important is to make sure you are talking about “them” instead of all about “you!” Of course it’s crucial that they know about you, your company, and what you can provide for them, but clients want to feel like you’re interested in them as well! Trust us, brides love to talk about their wedding, so ask them questions – “when did you get engaged?” or “where are you having your wedding?” are great! You will likely have some experience/knowledge on their venue, so use that opportunity to show your expertise as well!
