Waterford Wednesday: Choosing the Best Napkins

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
If you haven’t heard the exciting news, we just recently moved office locations! We didn’t go too far, just down the street (literally), but we now have so much more space! With all of this new space, we are excited about expanding our napkin wall. Napkins are one of our favorite ways to add a pop of color or extra detail to a table design, and we are pumped to have more space to see all of the napkins at once! For the most part, napkins are inexpensive and can really make a huge difference on your tables – small investment, huge impact! We’ve done a couple of posts in the past on our love for napkins, like the different folds you can create, some napkin inspiration, and why they are a great investment! So today we thought we’d discuss another important element of napkins: choosing the right/best kind for your event!

Quality IS Important
Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography

It’s true that napkins tend to be on the more inexpensive side of linens, but it’s important to make sure you are getting good quality napkins! While napkins are a beautiful addition to tables, they aren’t just there for looks! The right napkin should make guests feel comfortable knowing that they can clean up after themselves and wipe up any accidental spills as well. Another good thing about having quality napkins at an event is that they can match the rest of your decor impeccably to add to the atmosphere. Though it may seem like a small detail, knowing you have best quality napkins at your event is vital for the success of your occasion!

What To Look For

When you’re choosing event napkins, it’s important to figure out if you’d like napkins that are strictly for decor or napkins that are both fashionable and functional (we suggest option 2!). Functional napkins like polyester & satin make for easier clean up, while decor napkins (like sequin!) add a luxurious design element, but aren’t very useful when it comes to eating!

If you are looking for the best selection of event and wedding napkins, contact us! We have a large selection of different products to ensure your event is exactly how you imagined it.

Using gold in your wedding design, whether it be the main color or not, is such an easy way to make your event look elegant and luxurious without breaking the bank! Check out 5 of our favorite ways to incorporate gold into your decor/design below!

We absolutely adore this specialty linen of ours, and wouldn’t it just be the perfect way to add a touch of gold to your table?! We love how you can play around with this gorgeous linen to get just the right amount of gold that you’re looking for. Wedding decor is all about the details, and no formal, sit-down dinner is complete without a little additional decor! To add a little something extra (in gold!) our gold beaded chargers are the way to go! The glass adds a modern approach to the charger, while the gold beading provides that perfect hint of color that could take your table design to the next level!

Waterford Wednesday: Backdrops at Your Wedding

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Today is all about a wedding trend that we are absolutely loving, backdrops! Backdrops are the perfect piece to add a “wow factor” without looking too busy at your wedding. We’ve seen these beautiful pieces used during the ceremony, behind the sweetheart table, and even as a photo booth backdrop! Check out some of our favorite backdrops below!

Ceremony/Photo Booth Backdrop
Remember when we blogged Rebecca’s wedding a couple months ago? You got a little glance of the amazing backdrop she had, and we are still obsessing over it! This particular backdrop took on double duty, serving as the ceremony backdrop and then as the photo booth backdrop during the reception. What an awesome idea to get maximum use out of such a gorgeous piece!

Seating Area Backdrop
This beautiful backdrop is actually from a Women’s Club of Portsmouth wedding a couple years ago! Featuring the lyrics from the couples first dance song, this stunning backdrop was the perfect seating area for guests! The bride and groom also got some beautiful portraits in front of it as well!

Cake/Dessert Table Backdrop
The backdrop for this recent Winter Wedding styled shoot gave us serious inspiration! How gorgeous would cake cutting pictures be in front of this backdrop? Having your wedding favors on a table in front of this backdrop would also be a super cute idea!

Waterford Wednesday: Historic Post Office Wedding

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
It’s been a little bit since we’ve blogged a wedding, so today is perfect to feature a beautiful Historic Post Office wedding from last month! We just love, love, love the Historic Post Office and it’s been such a great venue addition to Hampton Roads, and we are always thrilled to have our linens and mahogany chairs be a part of any event there! See some of our favorite linen and chair photos below, and head on over to Erika Mills Photography to check out more photos from this beautiful day!
How gorgeous was the draping?! We hadn’t seen that done at the Historic Post Office until this wedding and we absolutely loved it! The wooden arch over the sweetheart table was also the location that the couple got married, and we thought that was so sweet! The hints of blush throughout the reception space were beautiful and our Leaf Champagne runners (on the guest tables) and overlays (on the sweetheart and cake/donut table) were the perfect pair!

Waterford Wednesday: Winter Wedding Styled Shoot

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Today we’ve got a beautiful styled shoot to share with you! This shoot was done back in February as part of Audrey Rose Photography’s Workshop and we’ve been itching to be able to share it since then! It was picked up to be featured on Wedding Chicks, so we had to wait for that to go live before posting ourselves! Audrey teamed up with Jamie Leigh Events (and a host of other top-notch vendors listed below!) to help her style the elegant winter wedding shoot she had in mind. The outcome was a gorgeous setup at the Womans Club Of Portsmouth filled with whites, greys, and ice blues! Check out some of our favorites below:
We absolutely adore the color palette used for this shoot! Since this styled shoot was back in February, the inspiration was “winter,” but the greenery from the floral arrangements and the ice blues/greys of the linens give off a spring vibe as well! We were thrilled to have our linens in this shoot including our Grey Velvet linen on the cocktail table (next to that amazing backdrop!), Ice Blue Matte Satin Napkins, and our Silver Majestic linen. Of course, we can’t forget our White Resin Chairs housed on-site at the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth!

Check out the Wedding Chicks feature here, and head to Audrey’s blog for more pictures from the shoot here!

Sunset Marble
Beautiful Sunset Marble linen? Check! Amazing ethereal greenery wall? Check! Winner of Vendors Choice Award? Check! Emily Weddings nailed every single aspect of their table design, and all of the other vendors in attendance thought so too, as they walked away with one of our coveted awards!
Design: Emily Weddings | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting | Florals & Greenery: Palette of Petals |  Signage: Jollity & Co.

Ivory Iridescent Crush | Copper Sequins
We love, loved how elegant Goodrich Gourmet’s table turned out! Our Ivory Iridescent Crush linen was used as the perfect faux runner on their sweetheart styled table and our Copper Sequins linen brought attention to the gorgeous food they had on display!
Design: Goodrich Gourmet Catering | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting

Aphrodite Runner
How gorgeous are the teal chairs that Mad Hatter Vintage used at A Crystal Clear Vision? We’re STILL thinking about them! We loved how Mad Hatter created a whole little “nook” as opposed to just a table design – it definitely gave our guests great ideas of different ways to setup their own wedding! The Aphrodite Runner was the perfect linen choice for their table too!
Design: Mad Hatter Vintage | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting

Khaki Polyester
The Obici House brought love story vibes to their table design..literally! They kept their table design clean and simple with our Khaki Polyester linen and then had a showstopper piece behind the table in the form of a huge “storybook!” We absolutely loved the creativity and thought behind this element!
Design: The Obici House  | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting

Nude SequinsThe Posh Pair was another vendor that created a complete “nook” instead of just one table, and  completely nailed it! Their design aesthetic really came to life and their use of many different signs and details was a huge draw for those that attended! Our Nude Sequins linens on each of their tables was the perfect compliment!

Waterford Wednesday: ILEA Knife and Fork Competition

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
We’ve got a fun post for you today all about the ILEA Hampton Roads Knife & Fork Competition! ILEA, the International Live Events Association, is an amazing organization we are part of that brings together special event professionals for education and networking purposes. We absolutely love the monthly meetings and fun events (like this one!) that our ILEA Hampton Roads chapter hosts. The whole knife and fork tabletop competition was based around Hollywood, so each vendor chose a movie to design their table around. Check out how Rebecca and Brigitte brought our “Grease” inspired table to life below!
We love when we are able to be on the “other side of table” so to speak and come up with creative and unique design ideas! Rebecca and Brigitte chose Grease as their inspiration, and really brought the 1950’s diner feel to life with the help of our red and white striped polyester linen! Of course, we had a ton of “friendor” help: Stage Right Lighting made our dreams come true with the lighting above the table, Mad Hatter Vintage Rentals provided the flatware and soda crate that really tied the old school feel together, and Big Top Entertainment lent us the amazing booth seat that is quintessential 1950’s diner!

You have to check out more of the creative tables from this year’s competition! Head on over to the ILEA Facebook page to see more from the fun event!

A Crystal Clear Vision Linens 2018: Part 3

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
Today is Part 3 of A Crystal Clear Vision linens! We’ve got 5 more tablescapes to show you with all of the linen and decor details! Check out the tables that Kirstyn Marie Photography captured: A Lively AffairCarolyn Celeste WeddingsChef By DesignEast Beach Catering, & Soirees By Lauren.

Navy and White Stripe Polyester
We love a good nautical theme and A Lively Affair definitely delivered with their “coastal chic” table design! Our bold Navy and White Stripe Polyester linen was the perfect choice for this table and was a great base for all of the sailboat inspired decor on the table!
Design: A Lively Affair | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting | Florals: Leslie Hartig Floral Design |  Glassware & Flatware:  Mad Hatter Vintage | Sailboat: Norfolk Yacht & Country Club | EmbroideryMonkey See Boutique

Slate Polyester
Can we just take moment to reflect on the fact that Carolyn Celeste Weddings had actual TURF and SOD as part of her table design? I mean, it does not get more innovative or creative than that! Since February isn’t exactly prime time for beautiful green grass, Carolyn found another way to include it in her design, and paired with our Slate Polyester linen, this table was giving us all the spring/summer feels!
Design: Carolyn Celeste Weddings | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting | Florals: Studio Posy | Paper Products & Graphic Design: PaperDolls Design | Setee: Mad Hatter Vintage | Turf/Sod: United Turf, LLC.

Marine Velvet
We still can’t get over the gorgeous sign that Chef By Design had hanging above their table! We loved the fact that Chef By Design decided to design a beautiful table setting with our Marine Velvet linen, yet also have two food displays on the side! The whole look really worked well together, and just deepened our love for velvet linens!
Design: Chef By Design | Signage & Rotating Food Sign: Blue Steel Lighting | Floral: Palette of PetalsChairs, Chargers, & Plates: Mad Hatter Vintage | Glassware & Flatware: Big Top Entertainment

Charcoal Natural | Macrame Runner
East Beach Catering completely knocked it out of the park in showcasing their catering options! They had a wide array of items on their tablescape, and we (along with the attendees!) loved the fact they could get unique ideas to use at their weddings – such as a Biscuit Bar, or Bloody Mary Bar! Our Charcoal Natural linen was the perfect neutral base for the table, and our Macrame Runner brought just the right amount of flare!
Design: East Beach Catering  | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting

Mauve Floral
Soirees By Lauren completely nailed their table design at this year’s show! How amazing is our Mauve Floral linen that the ladies decided to use as their main table linen?! The mini pies and the cut out names on the place settings was a unique and personalized touch that we loved!
Design: Soirees By Lauren | Lighting: Blue Steel Lighting | Florals: Fluttering Flowers | Place Setting Names: Jollity & Co. | Vintage Rentals: Mad Hatter Vintage

Waterford Wednesday: Internship Program

Were excited to dive into today’s post because it’s all about an aspect of Waterford that is very important to all of us, our internship program! We believe that real working exposure and networking in the event world is an invaluable learning experience, and our internship program is tailored around this!

Our wedding and event internship positions are open to Sophomore, Junior, and Senior applicants at accredited colleges/universities each semester for class, practicum/internship, or college credit. Our intern will assist with both office work and on site execution of events and have the ability to gain hands-on experience by attending design meetings with clients, emailing clients, updating social media outlets, and setting up/breaking down events. Qualifications for the internship program include desire to work in the event industry (of course!), a 2.5 GPA or higher, and week-day availability.

Read about the experience of some of our past Waterford interns below, including how our program has helped our interns get jobs after their internship at top Hampton Roads vendors!
Starting in the event industry as an intern at Waterford Event Rentals was truly the perfect path for me. Unknowingly, it was the start of a new journey which lead to the dedication, drive, and passion I have today. Throughout the course of my internship I learned a plethora of communication and hospitality skills; beyond more than I ever expected. As an intern, I expanded my horizons and before I even realized, I was attending networking events and mingling with other professionals in the industry; if you take anything away from your experience with Waterford Event Rentals, it should be to soak all of that up. My time there was nothing short of amazing. It was challenging and thrilling, but I would not change any of it. To this day they are some of my biggest supporters while I chase my industry dreams.
— Kaci Parker, 2015 Fall Intern — Photo: Caitlin Gerres Photography

Being an intern at Waterford Event Rentals has turned me into the person I am today! I had the most rewarding experience being the 2016 Summer intern. I was able to get my hands into learning the products in the warehouse, to shadowing Rebecca’s design meetings, to going to networking events and more. I even got to shadow an Event Planner and a Catering & Sales Manager to help me figure out what direction I wanted to go in with my career. Rebecca and Alyse really helped me learn all aspects of the event industry and they helped me figure out exactly where I wanted to be. I just couldn’t leave after my internship came to an end, and I was very fortunate that I was offered a full time job as Administrative Coordinator with Waterford Event Rentals!
— Brigitte Bradshaw, 2016 Summer Intern — Photo: Kirstyn Marie Photography
When I first started interning at Waterford Event Rentals, I thought it would just be something fun to do while getting college credits, but what it lead to was me finding what I was passionate about, the Event Industry. I had seen the other side of events when I worked at a Yacht Club as a server, but the preparation for events is something completely different. It takes so much time, hard work, and an open mind to make an event happen. Waterford really taught me so much about this amazing industry. They allowed me to attend networking events, help plan and execute Bridal Shows, make monthly newsletters, and even helped me find a job after college! Most young adults after college don’t have a job (in the field they want) and are looking for months, but with the help of the lovely ladies at Waterford, I landed a job right out of the gate. I am now a Catering Sales Manager at one of the nicest venues in the area, and I LOVE IT! This company is more than just that, it’s a family who are my forever friends!

Waterford Wednesday: New Product Alert!

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!
While we still have a ton of A Crystal Clear Vision pictures and details to show you, we are taking a quick break from that this week to let you in on some exciting editions to our Waterford inventory! Check out the three gorgeous new products that are now available to rent!

French Floral Blush Napkins
First up are these beautiful French Floral Blush Napkins! These napkins are PERFECT for a spring or summer wedding, bridal shower, or even a dinner party. I mean, who doesn’t love a good floral print?! We’re really excited about these napkins and there are even matching linens to go with them! Picture these napkins folded nicely on all the guest tables, with a floor length floral for the sweetheart and cake table to accent…we LOVE!

Silver Marble Linen
We debuted these fun Silver Marble linens at our General Manager’s wedding this past November, but they have been so popular ever since! They’re cream with silver, charcoal, and slate blue marble detail throughout the entire linen. We love them and they even feel like velvet! Trendy and different, but still so beautiful and elegant!

Velvet Linens
Yes, yes and yes! We are loving the velvet trend this year! Not only did we find the most perfect mauve velvet linen…but we also got them in napkins and we’re obsessed! Our velvet selections are quickly growing, so stay tuned for more colors to be added!
