Top 3 Must Haves at Your Wedding Reception

Happy Wednesday! For this week’s #WaterfordWednesday we wanted to talk about what we believe to be the top 3 must haves at your wedding reception! While we are an event rental company, our suggestions revolve strictly around rentals. Of course a DJ & good food are a must for the PARRRR-TAYYY. However, in the event rental world, there are just some things that may not come to mind unless you knew to think about them otherwise. But that’s why we’re here to help!! Now onto the top 3 must haves!

1

Stylish Chair Option

Okay, we admit our company mayyyy have started out prominently with a crazy good chair cover and sash game but nowadays it’s all about the chair. When meeting with your venue really inquire on the tables & chairs they provide so that you can ensure the chairs they offer complement your design aspects.

The style of chair that you rent really can be the final piece of the puzzle that ties in the full design element of your reception. Here’s two of our favorite options & just goes to show how truly different chairs can make your wedding day look! Sarah Street Photography
Captivated Productions

2

Beautiful Linen Option (that touches the floor)

Just like with the chairs, it’s possible that your venue has in stock linens as well. But stop right there!!!!! If you don’t remember anything else from this blog, remember this…. You must verify that the linens you’re being offered are a good quality and touch the floor. You would be surprised the amount of times we hear that clients are being offered linens from venues or that the caterers provide them- which CAN be great but can also be a huge misunderstanding if you don’t ask the right questions. You want to make sure that these tablecloths are full length, to the floor, Without verifying that you run the risk of your “tablecloths” really being an overlay that will show the legs of the table & trust us no one wants that. Use these photos for a reference on what you DO want your tables to look like.Amanda Hedgepeth Photography

3

Elegant Charger Option

Our final tip for your top 3 must haves would have to be a charger. Chargers are so fun because not only do they come in tons of styles but you can also mix and match them among your tables or maybe give your head table a little something the rest of the guest tables don’t. We love adding a charger, it provides a beautiful place on the table that the guests can arrive to when compared to a table with nothing set.  Below you’ll see some charger options. This is the most fab way to dress up the tables & give it that last little bit of -umph!Alexandria PhotographyEchard Wheeler Photography

The last year our events were nowhere near normal but we did get to witness some crazy beautiful weddings with linens to die for. Just as we went through last week with our top napkin folds- we thought it was necessary to make the most popular linen choices known as well.

The fun part about rentals & picking out your linens is that you can literally bring your Pinterest board to life. You want it, we got it OR can get it 😉 There are countless possibilities when it comes to designing your ideal tablescape. Meeting with couples is the best part of our job and getting to step outside the box just makes us jump for joy. When couples are adamant that they want their reception space to be like no other the fun really begins! We get to mix & match napkins, chargers, table shapes & sizes which really gives you the opportunity to make your BIG DAY one in a million!

Let’s get right into taking a peek at these top 3 linens of 2020.

#1- Velvet

#3- Texture

Textured linens might be THE go to linen look for 2021!!!! This linen style is super fun because it’s not just one fabric that’s trending. Top 4 Napkin Folds of 2020

Hello again, signing on for our last blog of 2020! We are ending the year talking about the top 4 napkin folds we saw in 2020. When it comes to planning a wedding, everyone wants their design to be different than the last! We are so on the same page with that too! Choosing linens and designs that are out of the box make for perfect wedding pictures & you never know, maybe someone else’s future inspiration photo! Let’s just jump right in, shall we?

#4 Band around charger

This is a napkin fold we’ve seen for years but still reigns supreme when it comes to giving you a great place setting for your guests. The napkin is delicately folded to wrap around your charger plate. Whether it’s just the charger or you’re adding a salad plate on top this fold is a go to for sure.

#3 Trifold

Another OG in the napkin fold game is the simple but beautiful trifold. This napkin fold is great and adds a little bit of color and contrast on those tabletops. Whether you let the trifold hang off the side, or its folded on top of the table (or charger) it’s sure to draw attention and be noticed.Photography: Jessica Ryan Photography | Table Design: Fluttering FlowersPhotography: Audrey Rose Photography

#2 Menu Fold

Coming in for a veryyy close second place, we have the beautiful menu fold. A great way to give that extra attention to your stationary is by accenting with a menu fold. This fold creates a cute little pocket that allows the menu card to slide right in. There’s a few ways this fold can be achieved, take a peek below!Photography: Jessica Ryan PhotographyPhotography: Tylar Brooke Photography

#1 The Knot

If you have stayed up to date with our blogs this year, then you already knew that the knot is our #1 napkin fold of the year. It’s super cute & trendy- a lot of times that’s what couples are looking for. The knot is also versatile and can be tied perfectly in the middle or a little higher at the top. Mauve and Dusty Rose Wedding

Happy Waterford Wednesday guys! One of our last couple blogs of 2020- how INSANE. Today we are taking a look at a mauve and dusty rose wedding we were a part of at The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth this fall. We were thrilled to be a part of this one with some great vendors & so happy for this couple to be able to say I Do in the midst of this pandemic.

We are just loving the linen choices that were used here & even saw the bride and groom chairs decked out with our mauve chiffon sashes. Let me tell y’all adding some color to the chiavari chairs is a MUST have. We don’t see this too often but it is sure to be a hot trend for the coming 2021 wedding seasons!Although this couple had to reduce their guest count, they sure seemed to have the best time! They had a gorgeous venue and incredible team working for them to ensure their day was amazing!Kelly picked some napkins that were a custom order just for her & chose to match that with her sweetheart table. That’s a shot we can’t wait to show you because it puts the linen, chairs, and mauve sashes all in one picture- TO. DIE. FOR.Love taking a look at a good cake table shot. Usually there is so much detail surrounding the cake that you really get to bring all the elements of design together. Linen, cake, arch, drapery, and floral all make for a great photo op & focal point to your reception space.Ending this blog with these beauties! Absolutely adore the choice to use the mauve sashes woven through the chiavari chairs. It is so stunning and different that we’re hoping to see a little bit of more often. The sweetheart linen itself was also custom for the bride.

Remember guys- what you see is not what you get from us… We can make your wildest dreams come true! Custom printing is always an option or you can just bring us a Pinterest photo for your inspiration, we can make it happen for you no doubt!Congratulations on a beautiful wedding day Kelly & Jay! We hope that this day was everything you could have dreamed of and more. We loved being a part of it with you!

Outdoor Wedding in Smithfield Virginia

Happy Waterford Wednesday! Can you believe Christmas is here- legit a week away. Wow where has the time gone? We just received images back from a beautiful outdoor wedding in Smithfield, Virginia at The Aberdeen Farm. Not even a last minute rain plan was going to ruin this day! Seriously though you guys, when planning your wedding a DREAM TEAM when it comes to your vendors is a must. We do what we do to ensure that your big day goes off without a hitch! Sometimes rain is the problem on hand, but that doesn’t mean we can’t turn that day right on around.

We had the pleasure of setting up this incredible wedding early on a Saturday when there was nothing but rain on the forecast. But y’all- we made it happen & the results are incredible.

We love a good neutral color palette! From the florals to the plateware down to the linens we are in awe of how these final touches came together. Anytime there’s going to be a lot of glass incorporated in the centerpieces we know that the glass beaded chargers are the perfect match! The two together just gives a super clean and sleek feel to the tables while still bringing on the elegance. And isn’t this the cutest menu card you’ve ever seen! Sometimes all it takes is one small detail to be out of the box to make the biggest impact on the table. It’s a perfect fit in the beaded charger and framed perfectly by the knotted napkin. Guys we just can’t.Loving that this image captures the details in the floral, glassware, linens- such a beaut don’t you agree!A cute cocktail hour with a touch of vintage was perfect to give this groom “his own space”.And a beautiful cake table image to finish the night off! This cake is so amazing and topped with a gorgeous gold foil detail. It didn’t take much to make the cake look this good!Victoria & David- your wedding photos are going to be ones you show off FOREVER. These images are giving us so much life. Congrats to the both of you & we hope that you have an incredible life together!

Cavalier Wedding Feature

Hey there everyone! Hope you are just as happy as we are that we made it halfway through the week!! Today for our blog we are showing you ALL the angles from a BOMB wedding that was at The Cavalier Hotel not too long ago.

I feel like we say this every time we do a wedding throwback, but for real this one is INCREDIBLE. From the views, to the linen choices, the tiniest of details, and the vendor list- y’all they went all out here!

Right at the end of October, which is normally our CRAZIEST month we finished things off right with Sara & Taylor’s wedding. Sara made some BOLD moves with her linen selections & boy did this come out magical!

Let’s start by checking out the ceremony space. She has her gold chiavari chairs perfectly lined for the ceremony and added some dainty floral decor to the first couple rows of chairs. We always love a good chair accessory! Now, let’s get a view of the reception space. Also outside on the lawn covered with a tent is her jaw dropping reception space with details to die for. Sara made big moves with her fabric choice and the decision to mix and match these colors and IT. JUST. WORKS. The two linens paired together is serving all the looks. From this photo you really get a good peek into the space as a whole, the drapery, the chandeliers, the floral- this is truly incredible.Let’s take a closer look at these tables. Below you’ll see our warm and cozy velvet linen in navy. I know what you’re thinking…. Wow they must really love velvet because that is just the talk of the town. While you are correct….. It’s not just us that’s obsessed with the AHHHHHMAZING velvet options we have to offer. Our couples dig it just as much as we do.The other linen that we paired with the velvet is one that is also SO pretty and has so much potential. This one gets overlooked quite a bit but is a beauty in itself. This one is called Extreme Crush and featured below in the color mint. This linen is perfect for the person looking for a little more than the average but still doesn’t get too crazy. We love adding in a bit of texture while still keeping the linen the same color.PS- Did you spot the little hand sanitizer in this photo? Thanks COVID for giving our couples the perfect wedding favor.

The tables couldn’t look any better if we TRIED. I mean the simplicity of the centerpieces allows them to be beautiful on their own but the best complement to the linens. And we can’t end this blog without showing you the view from the sweetheart table. Wouldn’t you just die arriving to your table seeing a view like this one? And the extra bit of florals and details that are in this incredible arrangement really just sets it off!Congratulations on your wedding Sara & Taylor! We are so thankful you let us be a part of this big day in the midst of such a crazy time for us all. Getting photos back like this really just makes it all worth it. Enjoy the married life!

September Wedding Throwback

Happy Wednesday! December is here and it brought that cold weather too! This week we are blogging a beautiful outdoor wedding that we were a part of in September.

Okay, we get it….. COVID has been crazy for our couples. BUT this wedding had a pretty large guest count and was lucky enough to go off as planned with all the things! Tons of incredible vendors were brought in to make this day happen & we were happy to be a part of this team!

We were looking forward to this wedding for SUCH a nice time that it was so exciting for when the day finally arrived!! We LOVED the style and the design of this entire event from the largest details down to the tiniest- because they all matter! The ceremony was held on the private residential lawn over near the water with an incredible view & then the guests returned to the tent for all the reception festivities! The guest count was a little large so the couple decided to mix and match the tables by bringing in some King’s Tables and rounds to create some dimension throughout the space. And boy do we need to talk about these centerpieces. We are loving the monochromatic floral & tons & tons of glass design elements everywhere. We’re obsessed with the candle overload.Like come on, how stunning are these tables???? The simplicity while also layering on the fabrics is just to die for.

The napkin is one of our brand new styles- Hemstitch. And this couple was the FIRST to get their hands on it. Remember, when getting your linens through Waterford the option for custom linen rentals is ALWAYS an option.Might I add, this event was completely outdoors and while the weather was beautiful the wind was like nothing we had ever seen before. We arrived early on site to the venue and did everything we could possibly to ensure that all the linens were perfect and in good condition before we left. I mean we were literally sitting inside the cubby of the bar perfecting each and every napkin fold before placing them on the tables to make sure they didn’t blow away. Just another reason to stick with us for all your linen needs- we really go above and beyond to make sure your day is PERFECT no matter what.

I’d have to say this was one of our most anticipated events of the year and we were thrilled to be able to execute it with such a talented group of vendors.

Hannah Got Married!

Hey y’all! Happy (early) Thanksgiving! We are so excited to be spending an intimate holiday with our close friends & family tomorrow. This week we are blogging a LEGIT stunner wedding. LIKE STUNNING. Our girl Hannah tied the knot back at the end of September and she, along with us have patiently waited for these images. We knew that Hannah’s design, venue, and choice in photographer was sure to result in incredible wedding images.

Hannah got married at the beautiful Irvine Estate & House Mountain Inn located in Lexington, Virginia- just a little west of Charlottesville, VA. Her wedding took place right in the heart of fall and definitely had some bomb linens and florals to help bring her Big Day to life!

Alright- here they are, Ryan & Hannah NewellHannah went with a beautiful boho vibe as she brought out some burnt orange & rust tones to pair with her greys and tan shades. We are so excited for her that this day turned out to be everything she could have asked for- especially since she was a COVID bride too! Let’s take a look at her tables so you can see just how awesome these images really are.

I love to look at the reception space as a whole & then zoom in on the individual table details. All guest tables were set with a natural charcoal linen, and rust polyester napkin tied perfectly in a knot. For her head table Hannah went with a majestic khaki linen, a beautiful boa of greenery and some wooden chargers & burnt orange velvet napkins with a menu fold.

Can we all just take a second to admire this ahhhmazing head table? I mean the design that went into every single inch of this reception space, even we weren’t expecting! That chandelier- we’re obsessed.Even her guest tables were beautifully done & paired perfectly with the overall feel of this wedding from the napkins to the venue itself.Up close on the guest table you see just how beautiful everything is altogether. We love when our couples want to deck out the head table just a tiny bit extra than the additional guest tables. One of the best ways to do that is upgrade the napkin and throw in a charger plate- and Hannah killed it with this setting.I couldn’t finish this post without including one of Hannah’s beautiful bridal shots. This is personally one of my favs- trust me it was hard to pick! And I know what you must be thinking, yes she looks this good on a normal Tuesday.Hannah we are SO happy for you and extremely thankful to have you on our team! Hope that when you see this post you’re pleasantly surprised that this entire blog is dedicated to you (:

If your wedding is outside of the Hampton Roads area we can still take care of your rentals! We have had linens anywhere from Richmond, Charlottesville, North Carolina up through the Eastern Shore, even in New York. We got you covered!

Boho Wedding in September

Happy Waterford Wednesday! We are halfway through the week & boy is it a chilly one today! We had a really great wedding back in September that when we saw the linen selections we knew would be one that HAD to be blogged about! With a great vendor team on this wedding it’s definitely one of our favorites from this season!

Let’s just get right into this amazing sweetheart table. These florals with the linens and some romantic chiffon runners draping down to the floor really just do it for us. This table is beautiful while also super trendy and the execution couldn’t have been any better. The guest tables were kept simple and elegant with just a hint of color in the napkin. Loving the knotted napkin fold- that has just been taking over this year & really just vibes with the boho aesthetic they were going for.A little up close & personal shot of the long tables gives you a good example of how less is more. Really just keeping things simple and letting all the small details work in their own way is the way to do it sometimes! Don’t worry- we’re still a fan of over the top too!!One image we’d like to see more of is our couples’ faces as their see their reception space perfectly set up. All the time that gets put into working with every vendor to get all the things just right takes work on both ends so seeing the satisfaction from the end result is always a must have! If you walked into your reception space looking like this wouldn’t you just be STUNNED.Zooming in just one last time. I mean how cute is this table setup. We are obsessed with all of these neutral colors just coming together so effortlessly.Congrats Sam on your amazing wedding day! You were a beautiful bride and we are so happy you chose us to help share in this big day! Cheers to you and the hubby!
