Waterford Wednesday: Choosing Your Vendors

Happy Waterford Wednesday, friends!

We hope our post today will help you out when it comes to choosing the perfect vendors for your event! Planning any event can be super stressful with all of the decisions that need to be made, and choosing vendors is one the many people struggle with. You may have narrowed your choices down to a handful of great options, but biting the bullet and deciding can oftentimes be very difficult. Check out some helpful tips and things to consider to help you find your perfect vendor matches!

This one seems easy, right? Just pick the vendor/company who has the stuff you need. Well, not so fast! Of course you want to choose the vendor that has the inventory you want and need, but there are likely many different vendors who probably have what you need. So, since you have options, how do you pick the vendor with the right inventory for you? Find a vendor whose design aesthetic is similar to yours, that way when you decide to add on more items or change things up they will still have inventory that matches your design. Setting up a visit to their office or a design meeting are musts when picking out inventory because not all inventory is created equal! You need to make sure you love what you’re paying for!

Check Out Reviews
Photo: Jessica Ryan Photography

Whether on Facebook, or wedding websites like WeddingWire or The Knot, there are a ton of resources out there in terms of reviews! Just like you would look for restaurant reviews, you want to do the same for your event vendors! Hearing other clients first-hand experience with a particular vendor will make your decision easier!

Personal Fit

You probably know by now what your general design aesthetic is for your event and what kind of “planner” you are. You might be the type who has a bullet point list of pricing/tasks to complete, or perhaps you are more free form in your approach and aren’t sure of your whole vision yet. Knowing what kind of personality and attitude you have towards your event will help to inform what vendors would be a good fit for you. If you are the first type of person, you probably want a vendor who values efficiency and timeliness. The second type of person might need vendors who are able to offer a lot of different ideas and have time to brainstorm and dream.

Coastal Virginia is such a collaborative area and many of the best vendors have the community over competition mindset, which is great news for you! Vendors in the same industry work together often, offer advice, and refer other vendors when appropriate! Ask your current vendors if they have recommendations or if they have worked with particular vendors before. At Waterford, we love to sit down with our clients in design meetings and offer suggestions for you based on your personality type, style, and budget!

Waterford Wednesday: Wedding Season Inspiration

We’re back for another edition of Waterford Wednesday!
If you missed our post from last week, you HAVE to go check it out to see all of the gorgeous table designs from this year’s A Crystal Clear Vision. All of the participants at the event had such creative and innovative ideas that it made us SO excited for this upcoming wedding season! We know that so many of the design elements that these top planners and florists included in their tables are things that we are going to see this summer. Using A Crystal Clear Vision table designs as our inspiration, we thought we’d highlight some different trends that we hope to see this wedding season!

Patterned Linens

Patterned linens are the perfect way to add a unique style and element to your wedding! We had a few different patterned linens make an appearance at A Crystal Clear Vision, and it really made for an overall visually appealing design! Geometric Patterns, just like the Sequin Medallion Overlay that Soirees by Lauren used above, are ones that we particularly love! Patterns are quickly making a statement at weddings in larger capacities such as on guests tables!

Bringing Outdoors In

The rustic theme is always a favorite during wedding season, but this year we think we’ll see a more “woodsy” design emerge! Emily Weddings, who took home ALL 3 award honors at A Crystal Clear Vision, captured the outdoors to perfection..they literally had a tree inside! There are so many different ways to incorporate the outdoors into your table design whether it be with actual pieces of tree or mossy greenery throughout your florals!

Let’s be honest…will Metallics ever not be on trend?! Metallic linens have some serious staying power and are a trend that we think is going to be around for awhile. This wedding season we anticipate Metallics changing a tiny bit as far as colors go. Instead of just sticking with the standard gold and silver, we will probably see some colorful metallics make an appearance, like our Aqua Sequins that East Beach Catering and Event Planning used!

Texture & Layering
unspecified-48Photographer: Amanda Hedgepeth Photography
Textured linens add such an eye-catching appeal to a table, but adding in multiple layers brings the design to a whole new level! Botanique Events utilized 3 of our linens: Blush Petal, Champagne Satin & a Blush Floral Lace Overlay to create the perfect textured and layered look! We absolutely loved this concept and hope many brides use this creative design trend!

Don’t forget to check back with us these next couple of weeks for our Feature Friday posts where we will be detailing the various linens that each designer used on their A Crystal Clear Vision table!

Feature Friday: Rustic Winter Wedding Styled Shoot

Happy Feature Friday, friends!
We are in the holiday spirit here at Waterford after an amazing staff Christmas party last night! We had so much fun eating, socializing and all being together. In honor of the holidays and the cheer we’re feeling, we’ve got a gorgeous Rustic Winter Wedding inspired styled shoot to share with you today.

It can be extremely difficult to have a wedding during the holidays and make it it’s own separate event. Including a rustic element within a holiday/winter theme was the perfect addition to the greens and burgundies included in the table setting. Keeping the base linens a neutral color made for a really nice pop of color in the napkins and floral decor!

Amazing job to all of the vendors involved:

Waterford Wednesday: New Year’s Eve Inspiration

It’s Waterford Wednesday!
We can’t believe that this is one of our last posts before Christmas…the holiday season sure did sneak up on us this year! With many of the Christmas parties winding down, the next big celebration is ringing in 2016 and we’ve compiled some linen and color scheme inspiration to make your party extra special and memorable!

Black & White
View More: http://chelseaandersonphotography.pass.us/acrystalcleareventBlack and white is always a good idea when you’re looking for a modern grown up color scheme for any party and we absolutely adore any type of pattern in a linen! Put a touch of golden glitter into the mix and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous New Year’s Eve party color scheme that’ll be unexpected, yet loved by your guests.

When thinking of a traditional New Year’s Eve color scheme, sparkle and sequins are the first thing that come to mind. This color scheme is one that is the basis for most parties and we can totally see why! Sequins are fun, bright, and give off the perfect party vibe…which is exactly what ringing in the New Year should!

Pop of Color
View More: http://chelseaandersonphotography.pass.us/acrystalcleareventAh, a good ol’ pop of color…this might be our favorite New Year’s Eve inspiration yet! Using a “basic” New Year’s Eve color, such as black, and adding a bright “pop of color” is the perfect way to elevate your party! Utilizing your pop of color in your table decor will really bring your party to a new level, beyond the basic golds and silvers!

Waterford Wednesday: Chivari Chair Inspiration

Happy Wednesday friends!
A couple weeks ago, we mentioned our partnership with The Water Table, where will be storing white chivari chairs for brides to rent! We’ve been SO excited about this on-site rental option that we’ve been scouring Pinterest for inspiration on different ways to style these gorgeous chairs! Here are just a few of our favorites!

Ceremony Seating
english-tented-wedding-049We love the idea of using white chivari chairs as the seating option for a wedding ceremony! Whether it’s an indoor or outdoor ceremony, the crisp clean of the white will bring a simple and bright look to the space. The addition of a floral piece in this inspiration photo had us completely on board!

Weaved Chiffon Sashes
Chivari chairs are beautiful standing alone, but adding weaved chiffon sashes creates such an elegant and romantic look! The sheer, lightweight fabric of chiffon hangs perfectly on chivari chairs while the weaving pattern creates a unique and different style! We love how the weaved chiffon in this inspiration photo was used to differentiate the bride and grooms chairs from the rest!

Four Corner Bow
Of course, a basic sash in satin/organza/pintuck is always on trend, and our favorite chair tie is the four corner bow! The four corner bow is the perfect tie to dress up your chivari chair while also incorporating your wedding colors. Since the four corner tie isn’t general used on chairs that have covers on them, this tie will set your chairs apart from the rest!
