Welcome back to our Feature Friday: Staff Edition!
Today we are excited to introduce you to Stephanie, one of our event staff members who just recently got engaged! Check out her interview below and get to know more about her and what she does at Waterford!
Name: Stephanie Laria
Age: 23
Position: Event Staff Member
How long have you been with Waterford?: I have been with Waterford for a Fall season and this Summer season. My situation is a little different since I moved to Texas for a few months in between those times, but I loved working for Waterford so much that I just had to come back!
College/Major: I have a degree in Marketing from Old Dominion University!
Do you plan on utilizing your Marketing degree in the event industry?: I would love to continue working in the event industry. Having a marketing degree has helped me with the business side of things, so mixing the event side and the business side has made me realize all the possibilities for the future!
We saw on FB that you recently got engaged, have you started the planning process?: Ahhh yes! It has basically consumed my life. Since I do work for Waterford, I have seen SO many weddings, so I have been focusing on ways to make mine unique and totally amazing. Having my Waterford family by my side has helped in so many ways. . .I couldn’t do all this planning without them! I also just said “yes to the dress,” so that has been the most recent check off my to do list!
As far as linens go, what are your must-haves for your big day?: I love any type of textured linen! For example, our pinchwheel table cloths or our mesh rosette runners are linens that really make the guest tables stand out. Another must-have is something that will make the sweetheart table be the focal point of the room!
Favorite WER Memory: Anytime us Waterford girls are all together is a great time! One of my favorite memories is when I came back from Texas. My first time seeing everyone was for our photo shoot at 7:00 am and I got to catch up with everyone as well as meet all the new, awesome girls! It was great to be back and to continue right where I left off!
Describe yourself in 3 words: Caring, Determined, Confident
Describe WER in 3 words: Brilliant, Skilled, Original
Favorite Linen: I have always been a fan of our Pinchwheel linens, especially in a champagne color! It gives a very classic look and adds some interest.
Favorite Sash Tie: I love all of our sash ties, but my favorite would have to be the wrap around side bow. It gives you the elegant feel with the bow, but switches it up a little by placing it on the side of the chair, rather than the center!
What is your favorite part of the setup process at an event?: My favorite part of the set up process is definitely when it’s finished! Not because work is over and I get to go home, but because I love to see the final product of the work I have done! It makes it extra special when the bride, groom, or the family is there and their eyes light up at the sight of their ceremony/reception room.
What’s the most significant thing you’ve learned from working in the event industry?: Working in the event industry has helped me in so many ways! I’ve become more confident in myself and ability to take control of sticky situations, but most importantly, it has made me realize that this is what I want to do as my career. They say that “if you choose a job you love, you will never have to work a day in your life” and I truly LOVE working at WER!
