At Waterford, we think a lot about tables: the linen that sets the mood, the charger that frames each place setting, the napkin fold that makes guests pause. But the moment a table truly comes alive is when the florals arrive. That is why we want to shine a light on a Virginia Beach wedding florist we love sharing a room with: Tina Dolan and the team at Virginia Floral Design & Events.

Meet Tina Dolan, Virginia Beach Wedding Florist

Tina came to floral design after a successful career in the military. When it came time for her next chapter, she built a business around the things she loves most. In her words, she wanted to “leverage my eye for detail, passion for flowers, creativity and my love of people to grow a business.” That combination shows up in everything her team creates. Based in Virginia Beach, Virginia Floral Design & Events designs florals and full event experiences for everything from small, intimate gatherings to large-scale celebrations.

A Design Approach Built Around the Couple

The heart of Tina’s work is personalization. Her team describes their approach as making sure “every detail is a reflection of them and the occasion, never creating the same design twice.” It starts with a consultation, where the team gets to know each couple and builds a cohesive look around who they are. The goal is a relationship, not a transaction. They even describe the people they serve as “friends, not customers,” which is a philosophy we understand completely.

Why We Love Working Alongside This Virginia Beach Wedding Florist

Event day moves fast. Florals, linens, tables, and chairs all have to come together in the same room, often on a tight timeline. The partners who make that feel easy are the ones we are always glad to see on the schedule, and Tina’s team is one of them.

They show up prepared, communicate clearly, and work seamlessly alongside our team from the first table to the last stem. When the clock gets tight, they stay calm, flexible, and focused on one thing: making the couple’s vision happen. That is exactly how we approach every setup, too. It is the Waterford Way, and it is a joy to share a room with a team that works the same way.

Florals and Tablescapes, Better Together

A recent wedding we shared shows what happens when florals and tablescapes are designed to work together. At the ceremony, a woven basket overflowed with garden roses, delphinium, and snapdragons in soft peach, blush, and dusty blue, set right beside the aisle. At the reception, those same tones climbed tall gold stands above the head table, while lower arrangements tucked in among the place settings.

On the tables, the Panama Sky napkin picked up the dusty blue in the flowers, and taper candles in glass hurricanes added height and glow between the arrangements. Every element pointed back to the same palette, so the whole room felt considered from the first glance.

Tips for Pairing Your Wedding Florals and Linens

Planning a Hampton Roads wedding? A few simple habits help your florist and your rental team build one cohesive look:

  1. Share your palette early. Send the same color inspiration to your florist and your rental team so the flowers and the linens are working from one plan.
  2. Bring your floral proposal to your design consultation. Seeing the flowers you have chosen helps us suggest linens, chargers, and napkins that let them shine.
  3. Think about centerpiece height. Tall arrangements and low arrangements call for different table layouts, so decide early and let both teams know.
  4. Let one element lead. If your florals are full and colorful, a softer linen gives them room to stand out. If you love a statement linen, simpler florals keep the table balanced.
